  • Publication number: 20100033008
Abstract: A motor vehicle fitted with a control system for applying braking effect to foundation brakes acting on each wheel of the vehicle, when the braking effect provided by auxiliary brakes, acting on the driven wheels, is lost or significantly reduced is described. Sudden loss of auxiliary brake force can be felt as very bad drivability of the vehicle, a situation that typically occurs in case of low friction between road and tires or if the auxiliary brakes are down controlled to avoid engine stop. By use of a control system, these situations can be avoided. The control system includes a sensor, and a computer for computing and applying the braking effect to the foundation brakes to compensate for the loss of auxiliary braking force. Disclosed is also a method for applying braking effect to the foundation brakes of a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7223206
Abstract: Motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine, a transmission and at least a first and a second brake device. The first brake device acts directly on at least some of the wheels of the vehicle and the second brake device acts on the driving wheels of the vehicle via the transmission and is arranged before the clutch device of the transmission. The first brake device is activated when the second brake device is in an activated state and a shifting operation is started.

  • Publication number: 20070013228
Abstract: Method and apparatus for distributing brake torque between at least a first and a second brake system of a motor vehicle including at least two wheel axles and four wheels with tires, in which the first brake system acts on at least one wheel axle and in which the second brake system acts on at least one driven wheel axle and in which the distribution of brake torque between the first and the second brake system takes account of the wear of the tires and the constituent components of the brake systems.

  • Publication number: 20060113833
Abstract: Method and apparatus for distributing brake torque between at least a first and a second braking device on a motor vehicle having at least two wheel pairs. The first braking device is a friction brake which acts on at least one wheel pair and the second braking device acts on at least one driven wheel pair. The distribution of brake torque between the first braking device and the second braking device takes account of brake torque required and also the maximum brake torque the first braking device and the second braking device can deliver. The distribution of brake torque takes place when the vehicle is driven with a cruise control function.
