  • Publication number: 20220002785
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and compositions for specific detection of Mycobacterium spp. in a sample and for profiling multiple gene loci within Mycobacterium spp. that are linked to or that are directly involved in antibiotic resistance. In particular the method employs a unique set of nucleic acid amplification primers that enable the whole genome sequence-based approach disclosed herein, allowing for the full characterization of the antibiotic resistance profile of Mycobacterium spp.

  • Publication number: 20080047450
Abstract: A munition includes a winding the configuration of which is changed as the munition detonates. The coil is seeded with a current and as the configuration of the winding changes a large em pulse is generated. Detection of the pulse can indicate whether or not the explosion is satisfactory and that the target is this destroyed. This avoids having to unnecessarily attack the target again.

  • Publication number: 20070274534
Abstract: An audio recording system comprises an array of microphones and a processor module. The array is a logarithmic spiral array in which the minimum distance between each microphone and all others that lie closer to the centre is maximised. The processor module further comprises a beam direction control device and a beam width control device; whereby an audio target is isolated.

  • Publication number: 20070163796
Abstract: The system integrates a CCTV system including one or more video source units into the structured cabling system (“SCS”) of a building or the like by combining video signals, control signals and power for each video source unit over a single multipair cable made up of plural unshielded twisted pairs (“UTP”) of insulated copper conductors, so that one twisted pair of the cable carries the video signals, one pair carries the control signals and one or two pairs carry the power. The system includes combiners and distributors which can interface with the SCS cable through standard modular, multi-pin plug and jack connectors.

  • Patent number: 6862542
Abstract: The present invention provides an erythema meter comprising a light guide that carries light of two specific wavelengths (probing and reference) at two distinct frequencies that are generated and modulated by a either a single or multiple source(s), a photodetector mounted in the tip of the guide that receives light reflected from the surface being examined, and circuitry electrically coupled to the guide for processing the light data, and determining the level of erythema present on the examined surface. The probing and reference wavelengths are delivered in sinusoidal or amplitude modulated fashion, thereby permitting electronic filtering of the received data. A calculating circuit determines the quotient of the two wavelengths after having been reflected off of a surface, such as mucosal or dermal surfaces, which is representative of the severity of erythema present in the surface.

  • Patent number: 6226547
Abstract: A catheter tracking system as depicted in FIGS. 1,2, and 3 for locating and tracking a position of a catheter head 16 within a part of a human or animal body 1. The catheter tracking system including of a catheter 10 having a head 16 which is arranged to be conveyed through a human or animal body to a desired location, a plurality of magnetic field transducers, at least one of which is disposed on the catheter 18, and others of which are located in/or around a body and which serve as reference transducers 19, and a control unit which energises the plurality of magnetic field transducers. Upon processing of the magnetic field signals the position of a catheter head 16 with respect to reference transducers 19 is determined.
