Abstract: A process for freeze drying a material. The process has the steps of (a) placing material to be freeze-dried in a vessel, the vessel comprising a container having a base, and at least one wall defining an opening at one end; (b) applying a membrane to the at least one wall to thereby cover the opening, wherein the membrane comprises an aperture which, in use, is aligned with the opening; and (c) subjecting the vessel to a lyophilisation procedure, wherein the membrane is in place on the container during the lyophilisation procedure.

Abstract: A method, of establishing secure communication, may include: generating a first symmetric key; encrypting at least the first symmetric key according to a public key; sending a first message that includes at least the encrypted first symmetric key to a communication counterpart using a connectionless protocol; and receiving, as part of a connection-oriented-protocol first session, a second message that includes an acknowledgement encrypted via the first symmetric key. A counterpart method may include: receiving and decrypting the first message according to the corresponding private key; and encrypting and then sending the second message. Another such method may include: encrypting a chunk of information according to a first symmetric key, the first symmetric key having been used in a previous and now-stopped connection-oriented session with a communication counterpart; and sending to a communication counterpart a first message whose payload at least in part the encrypted chunk of information.

Abstract: A method of effecting cross-linking of a resin comprises generating vinyl sulfonyl moieties in situ with the resin, said sulfonyl moieties then undergoing a reaction which effects cross-linking of the resin. The vinyl sulfonyl moieties may be generated as a result of a loss of a liquid carrier for the resin to be cross-linked. The cross-linking reaction may result from reaction of the vinyl sulfonyl moieties with nucleophilic groups in the resin composition. The resin may be a co-polymer of a compound of formula (IV) with other olefinically unsaturated monomers.

Abstract: A container having walls and a handle attached to the exterior of the container is disclosed. The container has handle receiving means in the form of a keyhole-shaped slot spaced apart from the wall of the container by a distance sufficient to accommodate a flange on the end of the handle. The keyhole-shaped slot has an orifice connected to a tapered slot which is open at the end opposed to the orifice. A shaft located at the end of the handle at each of its opposed ends has two spaced-apart flanges thereon. The shaft and the keyhole cooperatively act for insertion of the shaft into the orifice of the keyhole. At least one of the flanges attached to the handle is sectioned to form an edge in the shape of a hook. During insertion of the handle onto the container, the hook contacts a fulcrum located juxtaposed to the tapered slot of the keyhole which acts as a lever to snap the handle onto the container.
