  • Patent number: 6237368
Abstract: A method for regulating or controlling the content of NOx in the exhaust gases of a glass-melting furnace having several burners operated in alternation, wherein both the beginning and the end of a combustion break (FP+, FP−) are supplied to a binary signal generator (8) which passes a signal to a regulator (4) with a time delay and upon receipt of the time-regulator (4), and the amount of NH3 supplied to the denitrating plant is adjusted to a lower constant fixed value F1 via a control, and by means of a memory element (7) a higher constant fixed value F2 is calculated as amount of NH3 and supplied to the regulator (4), whereupon as soon as the regulator (4) has received the signal of the time-delayed end of a combustion break, the fixed value F1 is adjusted to the fixed value F2 via a control, and subsequently the regulation is directly continued.

  • Patent number: 6174840
Abstract: Use in inhibiting plant growth of a compound of formula II in which either the pair of symbols X and Y or the pair of symbols Y and Z, together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached, form a non-aromatic ring system having either 5 or 7 ring atoms, all of which are carbon except that one may be oxygen, and which is substituted or unsubstituted, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, alkenyl or a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group and R2 represents a hydrogen atom and R3 an alkyl carboxyalkyl group or R2 and R3 together form a double bond, and thereafter any unsatisfied valencies of ring carbon atoms of the ring shown in formula II are satisfied by hydrogen atoms.

  • Patent number: 5989657
Abstract: A trim strip has a bar of an at least partially transparent plastic having parallel inner and outer faces, an opaque decor layer laminated to the inner face, and a layer of adhesive on the opaque decor layer. The trim strip is adhered to a board edge with the decor layer against the board edge and the outer face directed away therefrom, and edges of the trim strip at the outer face are machined with removal of material so that the decor layer is left exposed through the bar at the machined edges.

  • Patent number: 5792525
Abstract: A creep resistant article is provided which is dimensioned from a stock material consisting essentially of a plurality of layers of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene which has been densified. The expanded polytetrafluoroethylene exhibits remnants of a fibril and node structure. The article is resistant to creep at high temperatures and under high loads.

  • Patent number: 5571222
Abstract: A process for measuring characteristic values and fundamental quantities of tapered thread using the one-ball or two-ball measuring method is disclosed. The process is used, in particular, on coordinate measurement devices with a device table which is movable in at least two coordinate axes and with a measurable relative movement between the device table and a measuring feeler. After calibrating the measuring feeler by means of a calibrating ring, the test piece is clamped on a table which is adjusted in such a way that a first flank diameter line 11 of the tapered thread is aligned vertically to the surface of the device table. The thread of the test piece is then sensed in a plurality of Z coordinates. The measurement data recorded in so doing are fed to an evaluating device.

  • Patent number: 5474384
Abstract: A supporting bearing (17) for linearly guided travelling units, having a housing and having a roller (20) which contains a rolling-contact bearing (26) and is seated on an eccentric bolt (28) which is mounted rotatably in the housing and can be fixed by clamping bolts (27). The housing (18a, 18b) is composed of two housing halves (18a, 18b) which are preferably of the same construction. The axial position of the roller (20) is determined by inner wall regions (46) of the housing halves (18a, 18b), which are laid or pressed against the end sides of the inner raceway (27) of the roller (20) after radial adjustment of the roller (20), by clamping the housing halves (18a, 18b) together. This results in the axial position of the roller (20) being fixed directly by way of its inner raceway (27).

  • Patent number: 4862736
Abstract: Through a method for transferring forces and/or moments between a rotatingly powered test stand and a test specimen and through an apparatus for carrying out the method, data is obtained which is identical to actual service data of a vehicle as it is driven on the road. This is accomplished without need to resort to additional empirical factors. The data is obtained by suspension of the mass of the driven test specimen with the test machine and through a torsion elastic connection of the test specimen with the test machine.

  • Patent number: 4554988
Abstract: When a measuring instrument normally displaying digital values by selective energization of a multi-segment display is used to furnish only qualitative information as to the relationship of the measured value to a reference value or values, the result is indicated only by the position on the display of a horizontal line. Since the change in position is limited by the position of the top and bottom segments constituting the digital display, the read-out of these conventional scales is difficult, particularly when carried out from different angles. To eliminate this problem, a reference mark or marks are supplied. The position of the weight dependent marks relative to the reference mark is clear, eliminating read-out errors. The reference mark may be a permanent mark on a transparent sheet mounted in front of the display. Alternatively, the reference marks can be created by activation of segments in places of the display not required for generating the weight dependent marks.

  • Patent number: 4363399
Abstract: A belt conveyor has a carrying belt unit including a carrying belt which has an upper load run and a plurality of supporting rollers to support the latter, and a friction belt unit having a friction belt which has one run in frictional contact with the upper load run of the carrying belt. The friction belt is guided by a plurality of bearing rollers and deviating rollers, the latter being downwardly offset relative to the bearing rollers. The upper load run is trough-shaped and has two lateral inclined portions supported by inclined supporting rollers, and a central portion with which the one run of the friction belt is in contact. The deviating rollers are spaced from one another by a distance which is at most equal to the width of the carrying belt.

  • Patent number: 4205161
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of vinyl chloride copolymers having a reduced content of free vinyl chloride comprising polymerizing a monomer mixture containing from 15% to 90% by weight of vinyl chloride under aqueous emulsion polymerization conditions with conventional post-polymerization, releasing the pressure, flushing the gas space above the copolymer dispersion free of monomer, cooling the copolymer dispersion to a temperature of from 10.degree. to 40.degree. C., adding a redox catalyst to the cooled dispersion consisting of from 0.002% to 0.5% by weight of the dispersion of an oil-soluble peroxy compound, and a water-soluble sulfur-containing reducing agent in a ratio of reducing agent to peroxy compound of 0.5 to 3 equivalents, allowing the dispersion to stand at a temperature of from 10.degree. to 40.degree. C. for a period of two hours to two days and recovering a copolymer dispersion having a vinyl chloride content of less than 50 ppm.

  • Patent number: 4078136
Abstract: A process for the production of a copolymer from at least one monomer which is gaseous under the polymerization conditions and at least one monomer that is liquid under the polymerization conditions by copolymerizing the same discontinuously in an aqueous media employing a polymerization vessel under conditions whereby a gas space is required, said gas space being provided by a second vessel connected to the polymerization vessel through a closeable connection, whereby on completion of polymerization, the closeable connection is closed in order to retain the gaseous monomer under pressure.
