  • Publication number: 20060031483
Abstract: Disclosed herein are filtering systems and methods that employ an electronic message source reputation system. The source reputation system maintains a pool of source Internet Protocol (IP) address information, in the form of a Real-Time Threat Identification Network (“RTIN”) database, which can provide the reputation of source IP addresses, which can be used by customers for filtering network traffic. The source reputation system provides for multiple avenues of access to the source reputation information. Examples of such avenues can include Domain Name Server (DNS)-type queries, servicing routers with router-table data, or other avenues.

  • Publication number: 20050240617
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for use in filtering electronic messages using business heuristics. In one aspect, a method includes determining whether the electronic message is associated with a desirable business, and adjusting the likelihood of delivering the electronic message to an intended recipient of the message if the electronic message is determined to be associated with the desirable business. In a more specific embodiment, the method further includes assigning a spam-score to the electronic message based on a likelihood that the electronic message is not unwanted by the intended recipient, blocking delivery of the electronic message to the intended recipient when the spam-score does not cross an overall threshold, and delivering the electronic message to the intended recipient based on the adjusted likelihood when the electronic message is determined to be associated with the desirable business.

  • Publication number: 20050182959
Abstract: The present invention provides an electronic message management system (EMS) that includes a real-time feedback loop where data is collected from the electronic messages on incoming connection attempts, outgoing delivery attempts, and message content analysis, and written to a centralized data matrix. A separate process accesses the data matrix and analyzes trends in that data. The detected data patterns, trends or behavior is based on configuration parameters for the recipient. Based on these determinations, the process is able to instruct components in the EMS to accept, redirect, refuse, modify, defer, or otherwise dispose of the connection request, the delivery attempt, or the message. Associated methods for managing the transmission of electronic messages are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050044170
Abstract: Data storage and retrieval systems and related methods are disclosed herein. In one aspect, a system includes data processing servers configured to receive incoming data and transmit the data for storage. The system also includes data storage servers each coupled to one or more data storage units and configured to receive transmitted data for writing to the one or more data storage units, and to read data from the one or more data storage units. Furthermore, the systems may include data retrieval servers coupled to one or more of the data storage servers and configured to retrieve data from the one or more data storage units. The system further includes process modules each associated with one of the data storage servers, where at least two of the process modules are configured to write a portion of the data to corresponding data storage units.

  • Patent number: 6624752
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and a method for detecting and identifying an object. More specifically the invention relates to a tag for attachment e.g. to luggage, the tag being adapted for transmission of an identifiable signal and a receiver for detecting and identifying the signal. The invention is concerned with use of the Internet and handheld terminals such as mobile phones in combination with Bluetooth™ or DECT technology for communicating information in relation to the object.

  • Patent number: 6164233
Abstract: An offshore system is described, of the type that includes a turret (20) anchored to the sea floor and connected by at least an upper bearing assembly (34) to the vessel hull (14) so the hull can weathervane about the turret, wherein the upper bearing assembly is of moderate cost and high reliability, is easily maintained, and accommodates vessel hull deformation. The upper bearing assembly includes a circle of bearing devices(202) wherein each device includes a cylinder (224) and piston (226). A source (260) of pressured fluid is applied to the devices to push apart the cylinder and piston to support an upper bearing part (204) of the turret on a lower bearing part (210) of the hull.

In one construction, the upper bearing assembly includes upper and lower slider bearing rings (40, 42) that lie facewise adjacent at an interface (44), with the upper bearing ring fixed to the turret and the lower bearing ring supported on the hull through quantities of elastomeric material (102). The elastomeric material permits slight tilt of the turret upper portion without opening a gap at one side of the interface. The lower bearing ring is divided into segments (112A, 112B), and large turret tilt allows pressured lubricant to escape from only one or a few segments that begins to lift up during turret tilt.

  • Patent number: 5772637
Abstract: An intravenous-line flow-control system for receiving a disposable cassette disposed in the intravenous line. The system prevents the free flow of intravenous fluid through the cassette when the cassette is removed from the system. The system includes a control unit having a door or similar structure for holding the cassette against a receiving surface. The control unit includes a stepper motor and a transmission member for turning a rotatable control valve on the cassette in order to restrict variably the flow of fluid through the cassette. When the door is being opened but while the cassette is still held against the receiving surface, a motor-disengagement mechanism moves at least the transmission member, and preferably the stepper motor as well, from a first position, from which the control valve may be engaged by the transmission member, to a second position, in which the transmission member is disengaged from the control valve.

  • Patent number: 5517937
Abstract: A turret that is rotatably mounted on a vessel and connected to risers extending down to sea floor wells, is constructed so the turret is of moderate diameter to enable the use of a moderate size bearing and moderate weight turret, while providing room around the terminations of the upper ends of the risers. The risers (46A, 46G, FIG. 3 ) extend through tubes (62, 70, 72) which are oriented at an angle to the turret axis (22), so the lower ends of the tubes lie on large diameter circles to be considerably spaced apart, while the upper ends of the tubes are closer together to fit within the inside of the moderate sized bearing (60). The upper ends of the risers may be terminated at a plurality of different levels (90, 92, 94) within the turret to provide room around each termination.

  • Patent number: 4369926
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of and apparatus for dry grinding a granular material in a grinding tube mill (1) having a final grinding compartment (2) and one or more preceding grinding compartments (3) containing grinding bodies. The material, after having passed through the preceding compartment or compartments (3), is discharged through openings (6) in the mill (1) and is divided into a fine and a coarse fraction in a separator (9). The coarse fraction is returned to the preceding compartment or compartments (3), and the fine fraction is fed to the final compartment (2). The ground material is discharged by flowing over a dam ring (12) from the final compartment (2). Any grinding bodies carried with the overflow are separated by a sieving diaphragm (13) from the material and returned to the final compartment (2). The invention also relates to the granular material ground according to the method of the invention.
