  • Patent number: 8601463
Abstract: Computer-readable storage media, methods and systems are provided for managing firmware on a plurality of field-replaceable units (“FRU”) (12). An aspect of installed firmware of the FRU (12) may be compared to an aspect of a firmware bundle. The firmware bundle may contain one or more images that are expected to be installed on the plurality of FRUs (10, 20) already or that are intended to be installed. A mismatch indication may be produced where the aspect of the installed firmware does not match the aspect of the firmware bundle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 1, 2009
Date of Patent: December 3, 2013
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Paul Bouchier, Timothy A. Frye, Peter M. Piotrowski, Rick A. Kato

  • Patent number: 7279857
Abstract: A method for reducing commutation-related acoustic noise in a fan system is provided. A constant frequency periodic signal is generated and a fan commutation event is synchronized with a zero level value of the constant frequency periodic signal. A system for controlling a direct current fan is provided. The system comprises a signal generator adapted to produce a periodic signal of a constant frequency and a phase-locked loop. A zero level value of the periodic signal is synchronized with a commutation event of the fan.

  • Patent number: 7103687
Abstract: A computer system comprising a memory including a host and an image file, a processor configured to execute the host, an input/output (I/O) controller coupled to the processor, and a management processing system coupled to the I/O controller and including a first storage location, a first memory, and a second memory is provided. The host is configured to cause the processor to store a first portion of the image file in the first memory, the host is configured to cause the processor to set the first storage location subsequent to storing the first portion in the first memory, and the management processing system is configured to store the first portion of the image file in the second memory in response to detecting that the first storage location has been set.

  • Patent number: 7099967
Abstract: A computer system comprising a memory that includes a host and an image file, a processor configured to execute the host, an input/output (I/O) controller coupled to the processor, and a management processing system coupled to the I/O controller and including a non-volatile memory is provided. The host is configured to cause the processor to provide the image file to the management processing system, and the management processing system is configured to store the image file in the non-volatile memory in response to receiving the image file from the host.
