  • Patent number: 6053826
Abstract: A system for connecting the dunk ring of a basketball-stand to a beam of the stand, the back-board being of glass and being surrounded and supported by a frame which is connected to the beam.A spacer block is interposed in the connection of the dunk ring attachment plate and the attachment element of the beam. The spacer block allows for a sufficient spacing, which, at least, corresponds to the thickness of the back-board. The back-board is then provided with a cut-away which is open towards the lower edge and which, in its mounted position, straddles the spacer block. In this way forces from the ring to the beam are guided directly, without in any way imparting the back-board.The spacer block may be realized in such a way that it is fixed to the lower element of the frame which surrounds the glass back-board.

  • Patent number: 5947848
Abstract: A basketball-stand comprising: a base; at least one support system carried by the base; a beam carried by the at least one support system, the beam is attached to a back-board and basketball-rim, the beam--and thereby the stand--being capable of moving between a storage position and a playing position; and gravity operated mechanism acting upon a point connected to the at least one support system and accumulating potential energy when the stand is lowered to the storage position, wherein the accumulated potential energy is released when the stand is raised to the playing position. Preferably, said gravity operated mechanism is at least one weight adjustably suspended from at least one suspension rod, the end of one weight comprising the point connected to the at least one support system, the at least one suspension rod extending substantially horizontally in its position stand, and vertically in its position corresponding to the playing position of the basketball-stand.

  • Patent number: 5855527
Abstract: A game net post adapted to be placed in substantially vertical position into the ground or floor, the post being provided with mechanism for attaching a net and for tensioning a net cable, the cross-sectional profile of the post presenting a cavity, open to the outside, and having cross-sectional dimensions such that the net cable tensioning mechanism may be received and substantially housed within it. Preferably, in the cavity, a longitudinal member is slideably inserted and which has affixed to it the net cable tensioning mechanism. The tensioning mechanism may comprise devices carrying a wire shaft and a handle coupled to the wire shaft, adapted to rotate the wire shaft while avoiding the longitudinal displacement thereof, a running nut with a hook device being associated with the wire shaft. A second embodiment is a two-part height-adjustable post.

  • Patent number: 5772167
Abstract: A basketball-stand, comprising a base which carries at least one support system which in turn carries a beam provided with means for attachment of a back-board and dunk ring. The beam comprises two parts--a first part carried by the support system and a second part which carries the means for attachment of a back-board and dunk ring--said first and second parts being movable one with respect to the other such that the effective beam length is adjustable.Preferably the second beam part is slidable with respect to the first beam part.
