  • Publication number: 20050084090
Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting and mitigating call routing arbitrage in a telecommunications network are disclosed. A network routing node, such as a signaling gateway (SG), intercepts call setup signaling messages. An arbitrage detector/processor examines parameters contained in an intercepted message to identify the presence of call routing arbitrage. For messages that indicate the presence of call routing arbitrage, the arbitrage detector/processor may perform a mitigating action, including redirecting the call to an interactive voice response (IVR) node, blocking the call, and/or inserting missing information in the call setup message and completing the call.

  • Publication number: 20050083971
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a WLAN-BTS gateway are disclosed. A handset registers with a WLAN-BTS gateway. The handset then initiates a call by initiating layer 3 air interface signaling with a BTS. The gateway forwards the layer 3 air interface signaling between the gateway and the handset. The gateway learns the control channel and traffic channel allocated to the call, either directly from the layer 3 signaling or from a separate message received from the handset. Once the call is connected, the gateway listens on the traffic channel and forwards voice packets between the handset and the BTS. Communications with the BTS occur over the allocated traffic channel. Communications with the handset occur over a WLAN.

  • Publication number: 20050074026
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing SIP trunk groups are disclosed. A SIP call processor identifies an incoming SIP trunk group based on one or more parameters associated with an incoming SIP message. The SIP call processor selects per-trunk-group call processing data based on the incoming SIP trunk group. The SIP call processor selectively processes the call based on the per-trunk-group call processing data selected for the incoming SIP trunk group.

  • Publication number: 20050047569
Abstract: Methods and systems for identifying calls connected without answer supervision and for automatically generating billing information for these calls are disclosed. A monitoring device copies signaling messages associated with calls. The signaling messages are correlated into call detail records. The call detail records are analyzed to identify calls connected without answer supervision. In one implementation, calls that exceed a predetermined duration and for which no answer message was returned from the terminating end office are identified as calls without answer supervision. For these calls, billing records may be generated and forwarded to a network billing center.

  • Publication number: 20050033684
Abstract: Methods and systems for performing sales transactions using a mobile communications device and without requiring text messaging or paging services are disclosed. In one example, a subscriber desiring to purchase goods or services proceeds to a point of sale device where the purchase price for the goods or services is totaled. The subscriber then initiates a voice call with a central transaction server. The subscriber provides a point of sale device identifier and the purchase price to the central transaction server. The central transaction server contacts a local transaction server using the identifier provided by the subscriber. The central transaction server also prompts the subscriber to select the payment account for the transaction and verifies that the subscriber has sufficient credit to purchase the goods or services. The central transaction server locates a pending transaction entry in a database local to the point of sale using the device identifier provided by the subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20050013290
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for flexible global title translation load sharing are disclosed. GTT load sharing groups are defined. Each GTT load sharing group may include one or more point codes. At least one of the point codes may appear in more than one of the GTT load sharing groups. When signaling messages requiring GTT are received, the signaling messages are load shared using the GTT load sharing groups.

  • Publication number: 20050003838
Abstract: A short message gateway may include signal transfer point (STP) functionality, mobile originating short message service center (SMSC) functionality, and short message delivery point-to-point (SMPP) gateway functionality. The short message gateway may receive an SS7 message including a short message payload. The short message gateway may formulate an SMPP message including the short message payload and access one or more internal address resolution and/or number portability databases to determine the destination address for the SMPP message. The short message gateway may then forward the SMPP message to its destination.
