  • Publication number: 20080121516
Abstract: A method for dry treating a sputter target using a plasma to significantly reduce burn-in time of the target by removing surface contaminants and also a minimal thickness of the deformed layer characteristics of a machined surface, the target so produced, and apparatus used for the target treatment.

  • Publication number: 20080006528
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus of forming a sputter target assembly having a controlled solder thickness. In particular, the method includes the introduction of a bonding foil, between the backing plate and the sputter target, wherein the bonding foil is an ignitable heterogeneous stratified structure for the propagation of an exothermic reaction.

  • Publication number: 20050178841
Abstract: The present invention relates to both a system and method for product and document authentication. The system used herein comprises one or more inks, at least one of which is either invisible to the naked eye or is fluorescent or luminescent, an optical (2, 3, 8) scanning component capable of detecting the signals emitted by all of said inks, and an information technology component for analyzing said signals. Given the large number of combinations of dyes, sizes and shapes of the markings made with said dyes, the ability to change the type, size and shape for the marking (5) for a given product, and the ability to keep track of the dyes and markings used for a given product, the system allows a nearly foolproof system for product authentication. The method involves the above system, or other combinations of inks, for authenticating a given product.

  • Publication number: 20050040030
Abstract: A method for dry treating a sputtering target using a sputtering ion plasma at low power to effectively reduce burn-in time of the target; the target so produced; and apparatus used for the target treatment.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 6190516
Abstract: A planar ferromagnetic sputter target is provided for use as cathode in the magnetron sputtering of magnetic thin films, wherein the ferromagnetic material has localized regions of differing magnetic permeability. A solid, unitary, planar sputter target is formed from a ferromagnetic material, such as cobalt, nickel, iron or an alloy thereof, and this planar target is subjected to mechanical deformation, heat treatment, and/or thermal-mechanical treatment to create regions within the sputter target having different permeability than adjacent regions. The permeability differences in the ferromagnetic sputter target guides the path of the magnetic flux flow through the target to thereby increase the magnetic leakage flux at the target sputtering surface.

  • Patent number: 4343342
Abstract: A pneumatic tire having indicia markings on each of its two sidewall surfaces contained within a plurality of sequentially adjacent modules forming a segmented annular band concentric with the tire sidewall. The modules on one sidewall surface are preferably located radially outwardly while the plurality of modules on other sidewall surface are located substantially radially inwardly of the tire maximum section width. The modules may be defined by a pair of circumferential projections, segmented via substantially radial projections, with these projections taking the form of raised ribs or recessed grooves. In a further embodiment of this invention, the modules are either embossed or debossed relative to the bases of the tire sidewall surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4317479
Abstract: The combination of detachable addition members with rubber articles, and particularly for tire sidewalls, wherein each article has a circumferentially discontinuous first coupling portion adapted to operatively interact with a second coupling portion on the addition member for securing the member to the article. Preferably a plurality of addition members are utilized and interact with a plurality of independent circumferentially discontinuous first coupling portions. The addition members may take a variety of geometric shapes and can be used for decorative, utilitarian and safety-enhancing purposes. Removably securing the addition members to the rubber articles permits easy ready changes and individualized replacement.

  • Patent number: 4278121
Abstract: An all-season tire tread having a circumferentially extending central rib together with a plurality of laterally spaced intermittent but circumferentially extending ribs on each side of the central rib with all of these ribs being separated by circumferentially extending grooves wherein a plurality of laterally continuous cleats are placed in circumferentially spaced relation about the tire and extend transversely outward of the central rib toward the closest respective tread edge wherein the circumferential cleat spacing is such that at least two laterally spaced cleats are in contact with the road surface during every footprint of the tire, with a plurality of lateral slots being in communication with the several grooves so as to promote water removal from the footprint area of the tire.
