  • Publication number: 20170225503
Abstract: A security paper is provided that includes at least one layer of fibrous substrate and a security deposit thereon. The at least one layer has a main body of a substantially uniform thickness and at least one aperture and/or zone of reduced thickness. The reduced thickness is non-zero and at least 15% less than the thickness of the main body. The security deposit includes at least one element that partially covers the fibrous substrate exposed in the at least one aperture and/or zone of reduced thickness. Therefore, when the at least one layer is split through its thickness into first and second portions, a hole is provided in the first portion and the at least one element is provided on the fibrous substrate of the second portion. A method of manufacturing the security paper and security documents including the security paper are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8919821
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with providing security substrates, and documents made therefrom, such as banknotes, with features for visual inspection by members of the public. More specifically the invention relates to a novel security substrate containing at least two elongate security elements for the purposes of public and non-public verification. The security substrate comprises a substrate and at least two elongate security elements each having a width of less than or equal to 6 mm. The security elements are at least partially embedded within the substrate and running substantially parallel to each other with a gap therebetween of no greater than 10 mm. The total cross-directional width of a zone occupied by the two security elements and the gap is less than or equal to 18 mm.

  • Patent number: 8268128
Abstract: The invention is directed toward improvements in security substrates, such as paper, used for making security documents, such as bank notes, having anti-counterfeit able features and in particular to security substrates incorporating an elongate security element and methods of making the substrate. The invention comprises a security substrate for making security documents and the like comprising a fibrous base substrate and an elongate security element at least partially embedded therein. At one surface of the security substrate one portion of the security element is exposed to provide a continuous track along the length of the security element. A plurality of other portions along at least one edge of the security element are partially covered by overlapping regions of the fibrous substrate. The invention further comprises a method of manufacturing such a security substrate.
