  • Patent number: 11828895
Abstract: Methods and devices for seismic exploration of an underground formation including an orthorhombic anisotropic medium or a tilted transverse isotropic medium are provided. Isotropic-type processing techniques use effective elastic parameter values calculated based on elastic parameter values, anisotropy parameter values and azimuth angle values for the orthorhombic anisotropic medium. For the tilted transverse isotropic medium, the effective elastic parameter values depend also on the tilt angle thereof.

Date of Patent: November 28, 2023
    Assignee: GEOSOFTWARE C.V.
Inventors: Catalin Tanase, Leonardo Quevedo, Peter Mesdag, Harry Debeye

  • Patent number: 10222497
Abstract: Computing device, computer instructions and method for estimating a broadband wavelet associated with a given seismic data set. The method includes receiving broadband seismic data; constructing and populating a misfit function; calculating the broadband wavelet based on the misfit function and the broadband seismic data; and estimating physical reservoir properties of a surveyed subsurface based on the broadband wavelet. The broadband wavelet is constrained, through the misfit function, by (1) an amplitude only long wavelet, and (2) an amplitude and phase short wavelet. The amplitude and phase short wavelet is shorter in time than the amplitude only long wavelet.

  • Publication number: 20150293245
Abstract: A method is disclosed for the generation and application of anisotropic elastic parameters associated with a horizontal transverse isotropic (HTI) medium. Azimuthal anisotropic elastic parameters are generated such that, for selected seismic wave and anisotropy types, an approximation to the anisotropic modeling of seismic amplitudes is obtained by the equivalent isotropic modeling with the anisotropic elastic parameters. In seismic modeling, wave-let estimation, seismic interpretation, inversion and the interpretation and analysis of inversion results anisotropy are handled with isotropic methods. Earth elastic parameters utilized in these methods are replaced by the anisotropic elastic parameters.
