  • Publication number: 20100058888
Abstract: A drive shaft includes at least two coaxial hollow shafts spaced apart in the direction of the rotational axis of the drive shaft, and each of the hollow shafts has an inner opening. At least one function unit, which includes at least one function part disposed, with reference to the direction of the rotational axis of the drive shaft, between a first and a second of the hollow shafts and first and second engagement sections extending in the direction of the rotational axis of the drive shaft, of which the first engagement section is disposed in the inner opening of the first hollow shaft and of which the second engagement section is disposed in the inner opening of the second hollow shaft. The engagement sections of the function unit are pressed into the inner openings of the hollow shafts with the formation of a particular press fit and the first and second hollow shafts are rigidly connected with one another via the function unit.

  • Publication number: 20080014836
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and method for production of a pre-formed shape on a workpiece having a blank piece shape, by means of grinding in several working steps, preferably on cams of a camshaft, comprising a grinding machine and a controller, for controlling the grinding machine. A measuring device is provided, for measuring the actual blank piece shape of the workpiece before grinding, directly or indirectly connected to the controller by means of a data transmission device such that the measured values, as determined by the measuring device, may be provided to the controller and set points for the control determine from said measured values by the controller.

  • Publication number: 20050102834
Abstract: In order to significantly reduce the weight of a single-piece cam (2) of a built camshaft, the cam (2), seen from the semi-cross-sectional point of view, comprises a T-shaped cross section having a narrow bridge (4) that extends towards the center thereof and a wraparound top (5) which protrudes by approximately the same distance on both sides and has an approximately constant cross section. The inventive cam (2) is preferably produced by hot forging or cold forging a semifinished pipe or round plate. Preferably, a camshaft comprising a shaft and at least one cam (2) is assembled by providing the support axle with an enlargement in the joining area by means of rolls, rollers, or knurls, said enlargement being greater than the inner diameter of the cam (2), and by inserting the cam (2), resulting in a positive and/or non-positive connection between the support axle and the cam (2).

  • Publication number: 20040244528
Abstract: A camshaft receives cams and camshaft bearings. The chamshaft is rectified in the zones receiving the camshaft bearings such that the diameter of the shaft in the bearing zones is smaller than the diameter of the shaft in the cam receiving zones. Thus, it is possible to mount the cams simply without damaging the bearing zones when the cams are mounted on the shaft, and to provide an economical manufacturing process.

  • Patent number: 5251405
Abstract: A method serves for circumferential grinding of radially non-circular workpieces, in particular for grinding cams (15) or polygons. The workpiece is rotated about a first second axis (13) extending at an angle, preferably of 90.degree., relative to the first axis (18). Starting out from a raw contour, the material at the surface of the workpiece (15) is removed along spiral-shaped paths of a point of action (20), by a plurality of steps corresponding each to one rotation of the workpiece, until intermediate contours and finally a finished contour are obtained, this being achieved by rotating and/or advancing the workpiece and the grinding wheel (11) in a controlled way, in response to data records. Every time an intermediate contour is reached, a new data record is called up for the next rotation of the workpiece. One measures continuously a predetermined absolute dimension (R.sub.Gist) of the workpiece and derives therefrom the existing deviation (.increment.R.sub.G) from a given setpoint value (R.sub.
