  • Patent number: 9294739
Abstract: An example of a waterproof hinge and button configuration for a head mounted device is provided. A magnet may be attached to the button, and a sensor may be positioned adjacent to the button to detect movement of the button. For example, the sensor may detect when the button is fully pressed, partially pressed, or not pressed at all by the level of magnetic flux density detected by the sensor. In addition, the sensor may detect an opened or closed position of the hinge based on the magnetic field polarity of the magnet. Due to the implementation of the sensor, the electrical components of the button are able to be removed so as to make the button-hinge configuration waterproof.

  • Publication number: 20160062119
Abstract: Opto-mechanical systems, methods of assembly, and devices utilizing opto-mechanical systems are disclosed. One example opto-mechanical system includes an optics housing; an optics display; and a display module. The optics display can extend away from a first open end of the optics housing to display images to a user. A display module is positioned adjacent a second open end of the optics housing. The display module may be constructed and arranged to project images onto the optics display. The display module further comprises a display module housing, as well as module displays that are positioned within the display module housing. The optics housing may be constructed and arranged to join the display module to the optics housing. The display module can be positioned within the optics housing and is spaced a predetermined distance away from the first surface of the optics display.

  • Publication number: 20160048025
Abstract: A head-mounted device includes a central frame support and at least one removably connected optics arm. The at least one optics arm has first and second free ends that are removably connected to a second end of the central frame support at a point between the first and second free ends. The optics arm extends away from the central frame support and is configured to present information to the user via a display device.

  • Publication number: 20160048036
Abstract: An example of a hinge mechanism for a head mounted device is provided. Aspects of the disclosure relate generally to folding the head mounted device in a secure fashion for convenient storage and transportation. The head mounted device may have an asymmetrical shape with an enlarged and elongated first side arm. In this regard, the hinge mechanism allows the head mounted device to fold at an angle so as not to interfere with a second side arm of the head mounted device. The head mounted device may also implement a flexguard component configured to bend along with the hinge structure so as to protect internal components that become exposed due to the folding of the hinge. An axial cam system is also implemented to allow for the secure and comfortable folding and opening of the head mounted device.

  • Patent number: 9261701
Abstract: A head-wearable device includes a center support extending in generally lateral directions, a first side arm extending from a first end of the center frame support and a second side arm extending from a second end of the center support. The device may further include a nosebridge that is removably coupled to the center frame support. The device may also include a lens assembly that is removably coupled to the center support or the nosebridge. The lens assembly may have a single lens, or a multi-lens arrangement configured to cooperate with display to correct for a user's ocular disease or disorder.

  • Patent number: 9128284
Abstract: An aspect of the present disclosure relates to a device mountable lens component, including a lens unit defining a first surface and having a first lens. The component also includes a retention structure having a housing member defining a second surface. The housing member is attached with the lens unit such that the second surface faces the first surface and is spaced apart therefrom at a first distance so as to define an area therebetween. The retention structure also has first and second plungers movably affixed within the area between the lens unit and the housing member. The first and second plungers are biased away from each other in opposite directions along a path and are moveable toward and away from each other along the path.

  • Patent number: 9091852
Abstract: A head-wearable device includes a center support extending in generally lateral directions, a first side arm extending from a first end of the center frame support and a second side arm extending from a second end of the center support. The device further includes an extension arm configured to present information to the user via a display element. The extension arm extends at least partially along the first side arm on a first side of the center support and further extends from the first side arm to a display end that supports the display element in a position on a second side of the center support. The extension arm has a joint therein configured for movement of the display element at least in a direction having a lateral component relative to the center support.

  • Patent number: 8818464
Abstract: A case for a device includes a plurality of walls defining a cavity and an opening to the cavity. A first one of the walls is opposite the opening and is configured as a support surface to support a portion of a first housing of the device and also has a first recess therein configured to receive a portion of at least a first end of a band of the device. A second one of the walls defines an edge of the opening that is configured to extend along a center support of the band with the optical element of the device being positioned between the second one of the walls and the support surface when the device is received in the cavity. The case also includes a lid configured to cover the opening and to selectively enclose the interior cavity.
