  • Publication number: 20120195226
Abstract: Method and arrangement in a base station for adjusting a channel quality indicator value of a wireless transmission between the base station and a user equipment. The base station, the user equipment and a relay node are comprised in a multi-hop wireless communication system and adapted to intercommunicate in a first transmission mode and a second transmission mode. The method comprises sending a radio signal to be received by the user equipment, obtaining a measurement of the channel quality indicator value, determining if the transmission mode of the sent radio signal is different from the transmission mode of the obtained channel quality indicator value measurement, and adding a channel quality indicator offset value to the channel quality indicator value, if the transmission mode of the relay node is determined to be the first transmission mode while the channel quality indicator was measured and obtained in the second transmission mode.

  • Patent number: 8213353
Abstract: This document proposes soft activation and inactivation of (network) repeaters that are, for example, activated on an as-needed basis. With soft activation, repeater gain ramps upward at a controlled rate, thereby avoiding rapid changes in interference caused by the repeater. Likewise, with soft inactivation, repeater gain ramps downward at a controlled rate. Soft activation/inactivation results in more gradual changes in the interference contribution of the repeater, thereby improving the performance of interference-compensating radio receivers operating in proximity to the repeater.

  • Publication number: 20120039263
Abstract: Uplink transmission scheduling requests (SRs) may be prohibited for a lower priority data flow, logical channel group (e.g., VoIP configured with semi-persistent resource allocation), or other grouping but may still be triggered for higher priority traffic (e.g., data connected to a signaling radio bearer (SRB)). More efficient scheduling is also achieved by allowing an uplink transmission scheduler to distinguish between different priority flows or groups (e.g., LCGs) without a buffer status report (BSR), As a result, when a semi-persistent resource is scheled for the lower priority data, there is less delay for high priority data while eliminating uplink and downlink control signaling, i.e., fewer scheduling requests (SRs) and uplink grants, for the lower priority data.

  • Publication number: 20110292843
Abstract: Method and arrangement in a relay node, for selecting communication mode. The relay node is configured to communicate with a base station via a donor antenna over a first link and to communicate with a user equipment via a coverage antenna over a second link. The method comprises obtaining an isolation value, based on the radio wave isolation between the relay donor antenna and the relay coverage antenna. The obtained isolation value is compared with an isolation threshold level value. The relay node is configured to communicate in full duplex mode if the obtained isolation value exceeds the isolation threshold level value, otherwise in half duplex mode. Information concerning the configured duplex mode of the relay node is transmitted to the base station. Also a method and arrangement in a base station is described.

  • Publication number: 20110280206
Abstract: Automatically adjust the size of a Physical Uplink Control Channel, PUCCH, of an uplink communication subframe. In a particular embodiment, the size of a semi-static region of the PUCCH is adjusted. The adjustment is based on a utilization factor of the PUCCH over a time period. The adjustment can also be based on the connection factor (connections between the wireless terminals and the cell) and/or based on the utilization factor of a PUSCH (Physical Uplink Shared Channel). The result is an efficient resource utilization on the PUCCH, and a properly dimensioned PUCCH region.

  • Publication number: 20110243060
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of operating a relay node includes receiving information, at the relay node, information identifying a plurality of subframes. The subframes represent time periods during which a base station may grant the relay node permission to transmit to the base station on a first frequency. The method also involves selecting one of the identified subframes to be used for a transmission between the relay node and a wireless terminal on the first frequency and transmits to the wireless terminal a scheduling grant granting the wireless terminal permission to transmit information on the first frequency during the selected subframe.

  • Publication number: 20110228700
Abstract: A coordinating node avoids or reduces interference between relay nodes by coordinating subframe allocation for the interfering relay nodes. The coordinating node identifies the interfering relay nodes that require the same subframe allocation and provides the necessary signaling so that the involved nodes get information concerning the subframe allocations. The system may be implemented using a centralized node (e.g., OAM) or distributed coordinating nodes.

  • Publication number: 20110208842
Abstract: A relay node identified by a unique relay node identifier relays communications between a donor base station and one or more user terminals. The donor base station acquires the relay node identifier during a relay node attach procedure from where the relay node or another node in the core network (e.g., mobile management entity). The donor base station may use the relay node identifier to retrieve configuration information for the relay node. The configuration information may be used to configure the relay node, to perform radio resource management functions, and/or to monitor the performance of the relay node.

  • Publication number: 20110032895
Abstract: The present invention relates to allowing configuring CSI reporting (step S-224, 310) on radio resources that are allocated over a plurality of sub frames on Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH). Allocation of said radio resources (steps S-202, 404) can be performed by semi-persistent allocation or by using Transmission Time Interval (TTI) bundling. By using either semi-persistent scheduling or TTI-bundling as decided by an eNB (104, 204, 600) the UE (102, 202, 500) can be configured to report CSI (step S-224, 310) for a plurality of UL transmissions. By allocating radio resources by using semi-persistent scheduling, the signaling overhead, which can be substantial for dynamic scheduling of radio resources, decreases. By using TTI-bundling the coverage of the CSI-reports increases.
