  • Patent number: 6850061
Abstract: A method for compensation for object motion during a scan, especially an magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is provided. The method involves taking a first data set corresponding to a first focussed image and adding a number of data points to form a slightly higher resolution image. Possible motions can then be modelled on the added data points and the effect on the focussing of the slightly higher resolution image determined using appropriate focus criteria.

Date of Patent: February 1, 2005
    Assignee: Qinetiq Limited

  • Patent number: 6777933
Abstract: A method for compensation for object motion during scan, especially an magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is provided. The method involves taking a first data set corresponding to a first focussed image and adding a number of data points to form a sligthly higher resolution image. The first data set is then used to predict what the next data points would be. The prediction can be performed in k-space, image space or in a hybrid space. The predicted data points arm then compared with the actual data points acquired as a means of determining any displacements. The displacements may be determined by comparing the phases of the actual and predicted data points and the k-space data corrected to compensate for any detected motion.

  • Patent number: 6341179
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for reducing imaging artifacts in physiological images, such as magnetic resonance imaging images. A model of a physical cause for the image artifact is modelled and the effects of perturbing this model on a focus criterion of the image analyzed so as to optimize the focus criterion. For an optimized focus criterion, the model should reflect the actual physical cause of the image artifact. A focus criterion is a measure of entropy of the image, with an optimized image having reduced entropy.

  • Patent number: 5051749
Abstract: A synthetic aperture radar assembly (1) locatable on a satellite (2) for radar imaging of a planet surface (3) in swaths, including means (8) for transmitting pulses (4) of electromagnetic radiation towards the planet surface (3) to be imaged, means (8) for receiving echoes of said pulses (4) returned by said planet surface (3), means for creating an image of a swath (5) of said planet surface (3) from said returned echoes and means for randomly varying the frequency of transmission of said pulses (4) to increase the width (11) of swath (5) imagable.
