Patent number: 10605697Abstract: The condition of a tyre (5) on a wheel (2) is assessed while the wheel (2) is mounted on a vehicle (1) and while the vehicle (1) is moving. As the vehicle (1) moves, the tyre (5) rotates and moves longitudinally along a path of movement. An imaging device (3, 4) captures images of a plurality of different portions (7) of the periphery of the tyre (5), which has tread portions (10) separated by tread gaps (11), whilst the tyre (5) revolves. While the images are being captured, longitudinally spaced flash units (F1, F2, F3, F4) are activated to illuminate portions (7) of the periphery of the tyre (5). The flash units (F1, F2, F3, F4) are positioned to one side of the path of movement of the tyre (5) and direct light at an acute angle to the path of movement of the tyre (5) so that the light causes shadows to be cast in the tread gaps (11) between tread portions (10).Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2016Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: WHEELRIGHT LIMITEDInventors: Peter Norman Rose, Alexander Paul Codd, Syed Wajahat Ali Shah Kazmi

Patent number: 10281910Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for determining a route for a vehicle (2). The method comprises generating, by a processor (12), a grid (16) by specifying a start node (18), specifying one or more movement operations performable by the vehicle (2), and iteratively adding edges and further nodes (20-24) to the grid (16), each edge corresponding to a respective movement operation and each further node corresponding to a location for the vehicle (2). The one or more processors (12) then select a path through the grid (16) from a first node of the grid to a second node of the grid. The first node corresponds to a first location (A) for the vehicle (2) and the second node corresponds to a second location (B) for the vehicle (2). Thus, a route for the vehicle (2) from the first location (A) to the second location (B) is determined.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2015Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: BAE Systems plcInventor: Peter Norman Thomas

Publication number: 20160162128Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are provided for configuring action buttons of a particular page that is displayed at a graphical user interface (GUI) of a particular client device of a particular tenant. In one embodiment, a console computer of a particular tenant is in communication with a server of an application provider. Based on a context that is specified by that particular tenant for that particular page, the console computer can be used to define a subset of relevant action buttons to be displayed at the GUI for the particular page, and an arrangement that orders the subset of relevant action buttons. The particular page can then be displayed at the GUI of the particular client device such that it includes the subset of relevant action buttons that have been arranged according to the arrangement.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2015Publication date: June 9, 2016Applicant: salesforce.com, inc.Inventors: Nick Hansen, Kevin Sean Cripps, Michael Dwayne Miller, Peter Norman Hale, Kathryn C. Patent number: 9057658Abstract: A sensor array (13) for checking the pressure of a vehicle tire while being moved over the array comprises two sets (14) and (19) of aligned, facing sensor members. The first set (14) of sensor members is formed by slits (15) cut into a plate of metal to form first fingers (16) connected in cantilevered fashion to a first base portion (17), which extend in the direction of intended vehicle movement to free ends (18). The second set (19) of sensor members is formed by slits (20) cut into a plate of metal to form second fingers (21) connected in cantilevered fashion to a second base portion (22), which extend in the reverse of the direction of intended vehicle movement to free ends (23). The fingers of the two sets are aligned and the free ends (18) and (23) are closely adjacent. Each finger is provided with a load sensing system (28, 29) which provides an indication of the load on the finger as the tire moves over the finger.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2012Date of Patent: June 16, 2015Assignee: Wheelright LimitedInventors: Peter Norman Rose, Paul Michael Taylor

Publication number: 20140194374Abstract: A new method of controlling worm burden in ruminants by using two different injectable anthelmintics at or about the same time to increase the time between treatments and to rely on the animal's immune response. One of the anthelmintics is a long acting formulation capable of providing a sustained release of abamectin or other macrocyclic lactone for 2-14 days, to enable the anthelmintic to remove or kill incoming larvae for a sufficiently long period of time to allow the host to recognise the incoming larvae as foreign, and thus allow the ruminant to mount an immune response against these incoming larvae. The other is a short acting anthelmintic such as levamisole designed to substantially eliminate the initial parasite population of adults, juveniles and larvae. They can be combined into a single injectable formulation with a high percentage of levamisole (preferably over 30% of the formulation w/v) together with about 1% w/v of a macrocyclic lactone such as abamectin, dissolved in glycerol formal.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2012Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicant: VIRBACInventors: Nicola Jane Cuff, Peter Norman Pulford, Mark Colin Vickers
