  • Patent number: 5164710
Abstract: In a method of obtaining a thread tension signal a sensor in the form of a piezofoil is attached to a thread guide or to its mounting and delivers a signal which reflects, amongst other things, the oscillations induced in the thread guide by the thread movement. In order to obtain a signal which corresponds to the thread tension either the frequency of an element which winds up the thread and/or harmonics of this frequency is filtered out of the sensor signal and the level of this frequency or the level of these frequencies is measured.

  • Patent number: 5102240
Abstract: A rotatable member (3) has on its outside surface a contoured surface portion (15) which widens conically upwards in diameter, is contiguous with a lubricant storage chamber (14) and extends axially to near a bearing (11) by which the rotatable member (3) is rotatably mounted in a housing (4). Lubricant discharging downwardly by gravity from the bearing (11) returns upwardly along the surface part (15) and reaches a zone which is below the bearing (11) and from which the same takes up lubricant. The bearing (11) is therefore supplied with lubricant during the rotation of the rotatable member (3) so that uniform lubrication in a thin layer is ensured. The mounting is used more particularly in a cap of a cap spinning machine or cap twisting machine.

  • Patent number: 5060346
Abstract: The combing machine comprises a continuously rotatable circular-comb cylinder carrying a circular-comb segment and detaching segment. The detaching segment cooperates with a detaching pressure roll. The combing machine also contains a nipper unit comprising a lower nipper which is stationary relative to the axis of the continuously rotatable circular-comb cylinder, and an upper nipper which is movable relative to the lower nipper. The fibers detached by the detaching segment together with the detaching pressure roll are sucked as fiber clusters into a suction shaft or tube, or can be united to form a sliver at a rotatable screening or sieve drum. The suction shaft includes a flexible membrane to close the shaft. The combining machine is of simple construction and economical to manufacture and renders possible a high operating speed and, therefore, a higher output, particularly in the absence of a top comb between the lower nipper and the detaching pressure roll.

  • Patent number: 4964267
Abstract: A reserve feed stock is pieced with a production feed stock, particularly a roving of a ring spinning machine. The piecing operation can be accomplished by applying twist to predetermine portions of the reserve and production feed stocks and then releasing such applied twist upon separation of the reserve and production feed stocks at predeterminate locations thereof.

  • Patent number: 4497087
Abstract: The can filling station is provided with can removal means for moving full cans away from a filling position. A sliver separator is also mounted on the can removal means to engage against the underside of the coiler guide wheel under a spring biased force. Simultaneously with the movement of the full can, the separator slides over the exit opening of the sliver channel in the guide wheel and thus separates or tears the fiber sliver which is stationary and located in the exit opening.

  • Patent number: 4463480
Abstract: The can changing apparatus operates so that the full can and empty can are arranged to move in guide paths which are at a right angle to each other. A simultaneous exchange of the cans takes place with one can being shifted at a constant speed while the other can moves with a speed characteristic which corresponds to a tangent function. The support members on which the arms for pushing the cans are mounted are connected, for example by a rigid curve rod, a resiliently bendable rod, or a linked arm such that one support member moves the other.

  • Patent number: 4434532
Abstract: The textile fiber sliver is deposited in cans in the form of cycloid-type loops. During deposition, the sliver is delivered via a rotating funnel gear wheel into a rotating can. In addition, the mutual distance between the axes of rotation of the gear wheel and can is varied by laterally displacing the can. Also, the rotational speed of the can is varied during operation so that when the distance between the axes of rotation of the wheel and can is at a minimum, the can rotates at a maximum speed. Likewise, when the distance between the axes of rotation is at a maximum, the can rotates at a minimum rotational speed.
