In a further embodiment, a pair of rigid connecting members couple the patient interface device to the headgear.

The second group of components has a magnet and a code element. Upon approach of the magnet to the pulse wire, a voltage pulse is able to be generated by the pulse wire. A signal is able to be generated by the detector as a function of the relative position, and based on the signal, a logic circuit is able to ascertain position information which is able to be stored in a non-volatile memory. Triggered by the voltage pulse, a voltage from a voltage source is able to be applied to the circuit configuration. The circuit configuration is disconnectable again from the voltage source at the latest after the storage of the position information in the memory.

An exhaust gas stream can be at least partly deflected depending on a load state of the internal combustion engine in such a way that at least parts of the exhaust gas flow through one or more modules. This makes it possible to advantageously construct and operate even an exhaust gas system of large-volume internal combustion engines, in which conversion and treatment of the exhaust gas is carried out in individual modules, even in no-load operation, basically at very low exhaust gas mass flow rates. The individual modules can be adapted to various load levels of the internal combustion engine. A rail-borne vehicle and a water-borne vehicle having the apparatus are also provided.

Abstract: An apparatus for treating an anal or urinary incontinent patient comprises a constriction device applied on the patient's large intestine or urethra, and an electrically powered operation device, which is integrated with the constriction device and adapted to operate the latter to constrict the large intestine or urethra to close the intestinal or urethral lumen and to release the large intestine or urethra to open the intestinal or urethral lumen. An electric power supply is subcutaneously implanted in the patient remote from the constriction device and an insulated electric wire connects the power supply and the electrically powered operation device. The electric wire is resilient and extends helically between the electric power supply and the electrically powered operation device. As a result, the resilient helically extending electric wire is capable of addressing the movements from the large intestine or urethra, because it may easily be temporarily extended without risking breakage.

The manifold allows gases from an oxygen concentrator to be combined with the flow through a gases supply and humidifying device, most usually air The combined output of oxygen and other breathing gases (air) is then humidified. The breathing assistance apparatus and manifold of the present invention provides a safe method to add oxygen to the input air stream of a gases supply and humidifying device and reduces the amount of accumulation of oxygen within the gases supply device, reducing fire risk should sparking occur within the device.

A spring support is embodied and situated so that the return spring is supported outside the volumetric flow and presses the armature into the initial position against the capsule, and the inlet and outlet are embodied and situated so that the direction of the volumetric flow assists the closing motion of the armature with the sealing pin.

The button is displaceable relative to the guide sleeve between inactivated and activated positions. The button includes a latching hook and a pin that interact with the sleeve to enable the button to move between its inactivated and activated positions. The latching hook and the pin engage with the sleeve when the button is in its activated position to secure the locking of the attachment.

Abstract: A zircon composition having a multi-modal particle size distribution is disclosed. The multi-modal zircon composition comprises greater than about 40 parts by weight of a coarse zircon component having a median particle size of from greater than about 3 ?m to about 25 ?m, and less than about 60 parts by weight of a fine zircon component having a median particle size of 3 ?m or less. Methods for manufacturing a green body and a fired refractory ceramic body comprising the multi-modal zircon composition are also disclosed.

The mesophase portions of a mesophase pitch are aligned with each other to create an oriented mesophase pitch, which is then foamed to provide an oriented pitch foam. The pitch foam can be heated to carbonize the pitch thereby forming an oriented carbon foam. The carbon foam can be further heated to provide an oriented graphite foam.
