Abstract: An embossing and texturizing system for imparting a natural cloth-like surface to a flexible thermoplastic material or film simultaneously to either or both of its two exterior surfaces, through the use of a device and technique combining metal rolls, metal and rubber rolls, and embossing and texturizing fabric rolls into an embossing system creating the desired visual and tactile feel of natural fabrics as well as additional performance characteristics. The embossing and texturizing system embosses and texturizes the exterior surface of the flexible thermoplastic material or film by selectively altering the exterior surface, and therefore, the film can be embossed simultaneously on either or both of its two exterior surfaces (face and reverse). The use of the embossing and texturizing mechanism and its alignment to the core and stabilizing reinforcing substrate enables the exterior texturized surface and the bottom side exterior texturized surface to be identical in all manner.

Abstract: A novel combination comprising the MEK inhibitor N-{3-[3-cyclopropyl-5-(2-fluoro-4-iodo-phenylamino)6,8-dimethyl;-2,4,7-trioxo-3,4,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-pyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidin-1-yl]phenyl}acetamide, or solvate thereof, with a B-Raf inhibitor, particularly N-{3-[5-(2-Amino-4-pyrimidinyl)-2-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,3-thiazol-4-yl]-2-fluorophenyl}-2,6-difluorobenzenesulfonamide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the same and methods of using such combinations and compositions in the treatment of conditions in which the inhibition of MEK and/or B-Raf is beneficial, eg. melanoma.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer system operating on a local power supply of finite capacity has a plurality of system components each connected to a voltage supply system to draw current for their operation. The computer system includes a measuring circuit connected to detect prevailing usage of the local power supply, for example, a battery. The supply system is connected to receive an indication from the measuring circuit of excessive usage and is adapted to reduce the available supply voltage to selected ones of the system components. Each system component is associated with a clock controller which selects a clock frequency for operation of a component in dependence on the available voltage supply. Also disclosed is a supply system for a computer device operating on a local power supply of finite capacity.

Abstract: A thickness control system for a high speed tortilla sheeting machine can adjust a pinch point gap between a pair of sheeting rollers to maintain a generally uniform thickness of the produced “masa” (i.e., corn dough) sheet. The sheeting machine can include a pinch point gap adjustment device which guides at least one of the rollers through an arcuate path to thereby adjust a magnitude of the pinch point gap. The controller can direct one or more actuators to change the position of the roller along the archive path to thereby change the distance between the two sheeting rollers as desired to produce a masa sheet at the desired preset thickness.

Abstract: A patient movement detector can receive inputs from position sensors, a thermal imaging camera, a video camera, and/or triangulation data. Based on one or more of these inputs, the patient movement detector can perform one or more of the following: fall prevention detection, bedsore prevention analysis, patient location detection, and patient walk test scoring. The patient movement detector can, for example, output a fall warning alarm, a bedsore warning alarm, patient location information, and walk test scores.

Abstract: An active and passive boundary layer control system and method for reducing boundary layer separation and the resulting form drag from ground vehicles. Tubings with multiple venturis connected in series are attached to the side and/or roof of the ground vehicle. A flow of compressed air is created by an engine auxiliary, e.g., a turbocharger or a supercharger, or by a designated blower and injected into the tubings. Suction created by the venturis actively removes decelerated fluid from the boundary layer and keeps the boundary layer flow attached. Optionally, the system exhausts the air in concentrated free jets along the vehicle body to a series of passive boundary layer control devices, such as vortex generators.

Abstract: An integrated circuit assembly includes an insulating layer having a having a first surface and a second surface, where the first surface of the insulating layer is less than 10 microns below an upper plane of the integrated circuit assembly. An active layer contacts the first surface of the insulating layer. A metal bond pad is electrically connected to the active layer and formed on the second surface of the insulating layer, and is also electrically connected to a printed circuit board. A method of fabricating an integrated circuit assembly includes coupling a handle wafer to the active layer of a semiconductor-on-insulator wafer, removing the substrate of the semiconductor-on-insulator, forming a bond pad connecting to the active layer on the exposed insulator surface, bonding the bond pad to a printed circuit board using a solder bump, and removing the handle wafer.

Abstract: A cementitious binder comprises at least 90% by weight of a hydraulically-active material comprising ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and/or pulverised fuel ash (PFA), and at least 0.1% by weight of CaO in an activator composition for the hydraulically-active material. The cementitious binder does not comprise any Portland cement and is, therefore, more environmentally friendly. The binder further comprises a superplasticiser such as a polycarboxylate ether (PCE). A concrete, mortar, grout, screed or render may be formed from a mixture of the cementitious binder, aggregate particles, water and superplasticiser.

When participating in such rich media conferences with presence and location capabilities, apparatus and techniques are provided for determining the device(s) being used and their capabilities and determining available resources presently connected to a network that is available to the participants and presenting such presence information to the conference participants. Additionally, apparatus and techniques are provided for obtaining presence and location knowledge of potential resources that are accessible but not connected to the network or shutdown and presenting such information to the participants.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing indications of received emergency alert messages to devices within a consumer premises are disclosed. In one embodiment, a consumer premise equipment (CPE) receiving one or more emergency alert messages from a content provider or managed network determines one or more alert responses for one or more devices of the consumer premise network. In one implementation, the responses are based at least in part on the received emergency alert messages themselves. The CPE issues one or more commands to one or more devices present within the consumer premises (which may be for example a home automation system), to indicate the one or more determined alert indication responses, such as auditory alert and visual alert by the one or more devices. Thus, users in the consumer premises may be made aware of an alert message outside of the typical means in which an alert is displayed, such as via a television.

Abstract: A node within a wireless mesh network is configured to forward a high-priority message to adjacent nodes in the wireless mesh network by either (i) transmitting the message during successive timeslots to the largest subset of nodes capable of receiving transmissions during each timeslot, or (ii) transmitting the message on each different channel during the timeslot when the largest subset of nodes are capable of receiving transmissions on each of those channels.
