  • Patent number: 7134177
Abstract: A device for applying a scale element to a first body, in relation to which a second body can be moved in a measuring direction, the device includes an alignment element displaceable on a scale element in a measuring direction, and applied transversely thereto in a defined position, and includes a reference surface, which is adapted for interaction with a second reference surface on a second body and otherwise is loose in relation to the second body.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 5, 2003
Date of Patent: November 14, 2006
    Assignee: Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbH

  • Patent number: 6571486
Abstract: A linear measuring device having a mounting fixture (1), in which a scale (2) is supported is described. Scale (2) is coupled to the mounting fixture (1) in one plane (N1) of the mounting fixture (1), which contains the neutral axis (N) of the mounting fixture (1) and which runs in parallel with the surface of the scale (2) bearing the graduation scale (3). This arrangement reduces perturbations transmitted to scale (2).

  • Patent number: 5711084
Abstract: A linear encoder for measuring a relative position of two objects displaceable relative to each other, including a scale for being secured on one of the objects and formed of a graduation carrying measuring standard and a measuring standard support, and a device for scanning the scale and securable on another of the objects, with the measuring standard support having two regions, which are spaced from each other in a direction of a longitudinal extent of the measuring standard for supporting the measuring standard, one of supporting regions forming a stationary support area and another of the supporting regions forms an elastic support area, and with the stationary and elastic support areas being formed as substantially continuous or interrupted linear support areas extending transverse to the longitudinal extent of the measuring standard.

  • Patent number: 4936023
Abstract: A method of mountng a measuring device for measuring the relative positions of two objects, such as, the bed and the carriage of the machine, wherein a graduation of an embodiment of measure is scanned without contact by a scanning device. The embodiment of measure is initially aligned and mounted on the first of two objects. The scanning device is mounted on an auxiliary device and is exactly calibrated relative to the graduation of the embodiment of measure. The scanning device is displaced guided on the embodiment of measure by means of the auxiliary device until a stop surface of the second object is reached. The scanning device is fastened with the intermediate arrangement of an attachment device on the stop surface of the second object in such a way that the calibration of the scanning device relative to the graduation is maintained. The auxiliary device is then loosened and removed from the scanning device.
