  • Patent number: 9206514
Abstract: Treatment apparatus has up-stream rollers 2 and down-stream rollers 3. Between the rollers are provided a pair of upper and lower treatment zone plates 4,5, spaced by a gap 6 through which sheet material to be treated can be passed. The plates have grooves 9 occupied by strips defining up- and down-stream even slots 14,15 for flow of treatment liquid into the gap 6. The ends of the upper plate 4 are smoothly rounded at 37. When sheet material is fed into the gap flow occurs on top of the sheet and up over the rounded edge of the plate. Then it flows sideways off the top of the plate without flowing over the top of the upper rollers.

  • Patent number: 9200535
Abstract: An aerofoil blade or vane for the turbine of a gas turbine engine is provided. The blade or vane includes an aerofoil portion which, in use, extends radially across a working gas annulus of the engine. A coolant inlet is formed at an end of the aerofoil portion for the entry of a cooling air flow into the portion. A corresponding coolant exhaust is formed at the trailing edge of the aerofoil portion for spent cooling air to flow from the portion. A passage within the aerofoil portion connects the inlet to the exhaust. A fence within the aerofoil portion extends radially and forwardly from a start position at the end of the aerofoil portion adjacent the trailing edge to an end position. The passage forms a loop which extends along one side of the fence, wraps around the end position, and extends along the other side of the fence.

  • Publication number: 20140316751
Abstract: A method includes receiving a representation of a spun tool and receiving a path for the spun tool. The method also includes calculating a profile of the spun tool and simulating movement of the spun tool over the path. The method includes determining critical positions along the path at which the composition of the profile of the spun tool changes based on the path, and re-calculating the composition of the profile of the spun tool for each side of a critical position. The method further includes re-calculating the shape of the profile of the spun tool at non-critical positions of the path. The method further includes determining a volume defined by moving the spun tool along the path between a first critical position and a second critical position, changing the profile of the spun tool at each critical position, and calculating a total volume based on the path.
