  • Publication number: 20110219921
Abstract: A cutting system for cutting natural or composite products is disclosed. The cutting system includes a fixed shear cutting blade having a cutting edge that faces upwardly. The cutting system also includes a movable ram positioned above the cutting edge. The movable ram can be moved upwardly and downwardly relative to the cutting edge. In use of the cutting system, a product desired to be cut is fed between the movable ram and the cutting edge of the cutting blade. By moving the movable ram downwardly toward the cutting blade, the product is compressed against the cutting blade thereby causing the cutting edge of the cutting blade to cut upwardly through the product.

  • Patent number: 7349517
Abstract: The burnout of a fuel element in a reactor is determined by first transferring a fuel element from a reactor to a measuring position and then subjecting the transferred fuel element at the position to a neutron flux. A first detector measures the total ? radiation emitted by the transferred fuel element and thereafter, if the radiation measured by the first detector exceeds a predetermined first limit, the transferred fuel element is returned back to the reactor. If not, a second detector measures a magnitude of high energy ? radiation above 1 MeV emitted by the transferred fuel element and thereafter only if the radiation measured by the second detector exceeds a predetermined second limit, the transferred fuel element is transferred back to the reactor. The element is not returned to the reactor if the radiation measured by the second detector is below the second limit.

  • Patent number: 5045090
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a device for reclaiming used foundry sands. In the process according to the invention the used sands are free from carbon-containing materials in a first step by means of a thermal treatment, inasmuch as they contain organic, carbon-containing material, and are subsequently mechanically cleaned batch-wise, for which purpose wear-resistant friction elements are moved through the sand charge as a function of the degree of oolitization of the respective sand batch at such a speed that the said grain of the batch is not destroyed. The device according to the invention consists of a cylindrical housing, in which rotatingly driven friction elements are provided, means for the batch-wise filling of the receptacle with used sand and means for discharge cleaned sand from the receptacle being provided.

  • Patent number: 4792204
Abstract: A process and a device for substantially eliminating tolerance-dependent variations of a preselectable space between the components of an optical communication apparatus is described. U-shaped recesses are provided in a metal casing for pressing in flange-type necks of, for example, optical transmitting and receiving devices. The parallel arranged devices are so spaced from each other that they are not subject to tolerance-dependent variations. For this purpose the metallic necks are coated with a plastic layer, and ribs provided at the lateral walls of the U-shaped recesses dig into the plastic layer. The necks are pressed in precisely at a predetermined spacing by means of a gauge. By the application of varying degrees of pressure when the ribs are pressed in on one side and the other side of the neck, one of the U-shaped recesses can be off-center.

  • Patent number: 4715674
Abstract: Adjacent lying plug-connector halves, the front ends of which exhibit pin or sleeve shaped plug elements, are provided with first and second supporting bodies, of which the first supporting body, with a sleeve shaped plug element, may be connected by means of a joinable groove-tenon-interconnect lying crosswise to the plug insertion direction, and exhibits an entrance channel for a plug connector half with a pin shaped plug element. The second supporting body with a concentric guiding tube for the insertion of pin shaped plug elements from both directions exhibits a tenon-groove-interlock contour at both ends that matches that of a sleeve shaped plug element. The first supporting body can therefore be interlocked with second supporting bodies or sleeve shaped plug elements at choice, whereby light wave guides single or double plugs may be connected to transmit- and/or receive modules and light wave guides single or double plugs may be inter-connected.

  • Patent number: 4522075
Abstract: A torque wrench including an elongate deflection beam section. Two strain gauges are attached to the beam in longitudinal spaced relationship from the ends thereof and relative to each other. Each strain gauge is connected in a related cyclically energized measuring bridge, the output voltage of which is amplified and, under control of a switch, is conducted to and stored in a related measured value memory. The two stored measured value voltages are cyclically and alternatingly conducted to a micro-processor by means of an analog-to-digital converter. The micro-processor compares the measured value voltages and conducts a resulting signal to an indicating instrument which displays the resulting signal in force units.
