  • Publication number: 20140194559
Abstract: The invention concerns a formulation and method which allow for the efficient delivery of antipolymerants of low solubility into processes for the production of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and associated process streams, and which avoid the potential health and safety problems and economic disadvantages which are associated with the methods of the prior art and facilitate the safe and efficient production of these monomers. Specifically, the invention provides an antipolymerant composition for the prevention of unwanted polymerisation reactions during the production and processing of ethylenically unsaturated compounds, the composition comprising a concentrated liquid formulation, wherein said concentrated liquid formulation is a suspension concentrate which comprises: (a) at least one compound selected from the group comprising phenols, quinones, thiazines, hydroxylamines and aromatic amines; (b) at least one dispersing agent; and (c) at least one polar or non-polar liquid carrier.

  • Publication number: 20050250725
Abstract: The present invention in general is directed to methods for manipulating cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor activity. Such manipulation will reduce or eliminate the expression of p21 gene based on specific requirements. This will be helpful in treating or preventing pathophysiological state in an individual which is characterized by undesirable level of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor activity, treating chronic progessive renal failure or lowering the rate of long-term rejection of a transplated organ in an individual. Additionally, the present invention also teaches up-regulating the expression of p21 gene using histone deacetylase inhibitors. The use of such inhibitors alone will be be helpful in treating acute renal failures whereas in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs will enhance the therapeutic potential of such drugs.

  • Patent number: 6677490
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a mixture of alcohols/ketones by decomposing an alkyl hydroperoxide, particularly to a method for producing a cyclohexanol/cyclohexanone by decomposing cyclohexyl hydroperoxide in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst. According to the invention, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst containing an organometallic segment fixed on the surface of a porous solid compound such as silicon. The organometallic segment can be formula (I).

  • Patent number: 6468004
Abstract: A facing element for a reinforced soil structure has first and second adjoining chamber. A polymeric strip to be secured to the facing element is circumflected about a non-metallic member, and the member and a portion of the circumflected strip are inserted into the first chamber and moved laterally into the second chamber where they are retained in wedged-engagement. The first chamber is sealed to prevent removal of the rod.

  • Patent number: 6224295
Abstract: To secure a polymeric strip (5) to a facing (10) of a reinforced soil structure, the strip (5) is circumflected about a plastics rod (4) and the circumflected strip and the rod are interposed between two or more blocks (1, 2) in a cavity (7) to retain the rod and thereby secure the strip (5) to the facing (10). The location of the rod (4) within the facing serves to distribute more uniformly the load imposed by the facing (10) on the strip (5), and the plastics rod (4) is resistant to corrosion.

  • Patent number: 4959323
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, recombinant plasmids are described which, when inserted into microbial hosts, direct the synthesis of proteins in which preS polypeptides found on the surface of human hepatitis B virus are fused to the enzyme .beta.-galactosidase. The recombinant plasmids are produced by inserting DNA sequences encoding the preS polypeptides into the lacZ gene, which codes for E. coli .beta.-galactosidase, carried by the plasmids. Large amounts of the preS-.beta.-galactosidase fusion proteins can be isolated from microbial cultures carrying the recombinant plasmids. Antigenic determinants of fusion protein so produced are recognized by antibodies to the preS determinants of native hepatitis B virus. The .beta.-galactosidase activity of such fusion protein is detected by a suitable chromogenic or fluorogenic substrate. PreS-.beta.
