Abstract: Personal care products are disclosed which comprises an alcohol based composition which includes a film forming system comprising cellulose esters, which product (1) is capable of forming a thin film on the skin which film is characterized by selected hardness, and water transport properties and (2) reduces or eliminates wetness such as wetness caused by perspiration. These compositions can be used in cosmetic products, especially antiperspirants, deodorants, and combination antiperspirant/deodorants. The compositions comprise: (a) an alcohol based solvent system; and (b) a cellulose ester component which is soluble in alcohol.

Abstract: Disclosed is a solid cosmetic composition (e.g., a cream composition) containing an active cosmetic material (e.g., a deodorant active, an antiperspirant active, a sunscreen, an insect repellent and/or an anti-fungal agent) and a silicone gel material. The silicone gel material includes (a) a volatile silicone material and (b) an organopolysiloxane material as a gelling agent, able to form a gel after being mixed with the volatile silicone material. The organopolysiloxane material can be a reaction product of a vinyl-terminated siloxane polymer and a hydride cross-linking agent. The composition can be formed by mixing the active cosmetic material and silicone gel material at ambient temperature. The compositions do not need particulate or clay thickeners or waxy gelling agents.

Abstract: Disclosed is a glycol-containing base gel composition having reduced skin irritation potential, in which a cosmetically active agent (e.g., deodorant active agent, sunscreen, antiperspirant active agent, etc.) can be incorporated to provide a cosmetic gel (e.g., soft gel or stick) composition. The gelling agent for the gel composition can be a soap. The base gel composition includes at least one glycol having a structure of the formula H(OC.sub.3 H.sub.6).sub.n OH, where n represents the number of repeating propylene oxide groups and ranges from 1-80, with the provisos that: (1) more than zero, and up to 100% by weight, of the glycol component, has n=3 or 4; (2) less than 20% by weight of the glycol component has n=1; (3) not more than 90% by weight of the glycol component has n=2; and (4) not more than 90% by weight of the glycol component has n greater than or equal to 5.
