  • Publication number: 20090020247
Abstract: The invention provides a three layered reprographic paper having improved strength, stiffness and curl resistance properties, and a method for making same. The paper has a central core layer made largely of cellulose and bulked with a bulking agent such as a diamide salt. A starch-based metered size press coating is pressed on both sides of the core layer, wherein the starch has a high solid content. The coating forms a three layered paper having an I-beam arrangement with high strength outer layers surrounding a low density core.

  • Patent number: 5360129
Abstract: A cargo or luggage container adapted for use on an aircraft which container has strengthened faces made from and/or reinforced by blast resistant material and at least one weakened Face made from a material relatively unresistant to blast, the strengthened faces forming in use at least the top and bottom faces of the container whereby blast From a detonating or exploding device within the container is directed out of the container preferentially by failure of the weakened face or faces. There may be one weakened face which in use is arranged to be the face nearest to an adjacent region of the aircraft hull. Alternatively, or in addition there may be two weakened faces on opposite sides of the container which in use are arranged to be the sides facing fore and aft with respect to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 5190248
Abstract: In the event of sudden depressurization caused by an explosion in an aircraft cargo compartment, a blast attenuation valve is provided in the aircraft's air channels to form a barrier to the passage of air between the cargo compartment and passenger cabin. The valve contains a mixture of compressible bodies through which air can normally permeate. After an explosion, the bodies block and blast wave by compressing together due to the substantial increase in pressure.

  • Patent number: 4884086
Abstract: A method of alignment of monolithic chips of arrays of light emitting diodes to form part of a print head, the method comprising placing microscopically visible alignment marks on each chip in predetermined positions relative to the diode array carried on the chip, positioning two chips adjacent to one another in desired relative positions, and viewing the two chips through a microscope having a graticule, whereby the alignment marks of the two chips are positioned on the cross wires of the graticule whereby the chips are aligned with their respective diode arrays in a correct spacing and orientation relative to one another.
