  • Patent number: 6044996
Abstract: A hot fill container formed from a polymeric material is disclosed. The container comprises a base (4), a body (2), and a neck (1), wherein the body (2) comprises an odd number of spaced-apart panels (5) that are responsive to internal pressure changes in the container. Hot fill bottles of a given capacity having an uneven number of deformable panels, e.g., five of a given wall thickness, unexpectedly accommodate significantly higher volume reductions before collapsing and distorting in an uncontrolled manner than known hot fill bottles of the same capacity having an even number of panels, e.g., six of the same wall thickness.

  • Patent number: 6041661
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for obtaining data relating to the compressive failure characteristics of a liner of a board sample which includes the following. A sample is aligned within a pivotal retaining mechanism of a testing device adapted to rotate about a line. A displacement force is applied at a constant rate to at least one edge of the liner such that the rotatable retaining mechanism allows self-positioning of the sample. Measurements are taken regularly of load and/or deflection observed until the liner fails.

  • Patent number: 5674349
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved method and apparatus for producing paper board structures wherein two corrugated mediums are bonded together at their flute tips. End gears (16a, 16b, 15a, 15b) are provided, at least, on the ends of the corrugating rolls (4,6), which are non-meshing with each other and which assist in aligning the corrugated mediums in tip to tip arrangement and provide precise tip to tip bonding of the mediums. The end gears may be abutting or non abutting and may be provided on both ends of the corrugating rolls, which assist in aligning the mediums to obtain precise tip to tip bonding.
