Abstract: Providing previews of seek locations in digital media is disclosed. While playback of the media content is progressing as normal a snapshot such as a thumbnail is displayed to show the user a representation of the media content that is associated with a seek location. The functionality of a transport key may be temporarily modified. The temporary modification allows the user to seek to a desired location very accurately and may result in fewer input keys being selected. Moreover, because the modification is temporary a great deal of flexibility is provided.

Abstract: The technology described herein is a system and methods for generating a branded background for user interfaces. In one embodiment, the background is generated based on a background template. A content partner may customize the background by providing a hue value, artwork and a logo. The background of the user interface is tinted a color associated with the hue value. The artwork and logo is placed in the background, and in one embodiment, the artwork comprises a watermark version of the artwork. Gallery content may also be layered over the background to create a UI having a theme.

Abstract: A method of selecting textual advertisements for display on a web page based on user history. In the method, a user accessing a web site is identified. Keywords in articles displayed on web pages viewed by the user are identified and stored in a user profile. The advertisements displayed on a current user selected web page are based on keywords from the articles viewed by the user in the past that are stored in the user profile.
