  • Patent number: 7750754
Abstract: A metamaterial is proposed which is composed of base elements having six ports with two ports, respectively. The base element further comprises four nodes connected with a central point via inductors, to which nodes the ports are connected via capacitors.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 2008

  • Patent number: 4529313
Abstract: A ring interferometer comprises a light source, an optical beam splitting device for receiving light from the light source, a light path encircling an area at least once and opening at both ends into the optical beam splitting device and a photodetector for detecting light from the light path. The light which enters the light path and is coupled to the optical beam splitting device at both ends passes through the light path in both directions. The light then reunites in the beam splitting device and thereby is brought into interference which is detected by the photodetector. The light source is chosen to produce light which has a coherence time which is substantially shorter than the propagation time of light through the light path.

  • Patent number: 4465336
Abstract: A waveguide and method of making the same is disclosed which comprises an elongated dielectric core surrounded by dielectric shell at least one of which have an anisotropic index of refraction. The core is made up of a plurality of layers each having a parallel surface normal with pairs of such layers having unequal indices of refraction. The layers are selected to preferably have the same thickness.

  • Patent number: 4132956
Abstract: A circuit for amplifying high frequency electromagnetic waves composed of a Josephson junction constituting an electromagnetic high frequency line along which electromagnetic waves can propagate at a signal frequency and at least one idler frequency, the junction being supplied with a direct voltage which modulates its associated Josephson current with respect to time, and with a magnetic field which modulates that current with respect to space.

  • Patent number: 4101845
Abstract: A method of producing coherent mode radiation comprises passing direct currents through a pair of injection lasers optically coupled together but controllable separately, one laser of good optical quality (O-factor) and spectral purity being excited above its threshold and the other laser having a lower optical quality and having a modulated current superimposed on its dc current. An arrangement suitable for carrying out such a method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4060739
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for amplifying pulsed signals comprises a step recovery diode charged by signals from a signal source through a diode biased in forward direction, the step recovery diode being discharged by a current flowing in the reverse direction through a diode path opened by pulses from a pump source, the reverse current flowing through a load resistor.
