  • Patent number: 9696293
Abstract: Systems and methods for the determination of the aggregation rate of red blood cells. More specifically, the subject technology is used to determine the aggregation rate of red blood cells, and other parameters related to these, such as viscosity, deformability, elasticity, density, in the field of in vitro medical analyses, using optical systems after or during vibration for red blood cell disruption and redistribution. Once the detected light variation stops decreasing (e.g., a minimum is reached), complete disruption is accomplished for evaluation of the blood sample.

  • Patent number: 9233053
Abstract: An enteral pump system for delivering medical fluids unidirectionally includes a disposable fluid delivery set having a repeatable compression portion and an enteral feeding pump. The repeatable compression portion is helically coiled around a central axis to define a cylindrical shape. The compression portion is configured to pump a large volume of medical fluids per stroke. The compressing portion includes at least two adjacent tubing walls joined around the central axis for repeatable compression. The enteral feeding pump is configured to repeatedly and reliably compress the compression portion of the fluid delivery set along the central axis. In operation, the compression portion is repeatably compressed without distortion along the central axis by the enteral feeding pump to flow unidirectionally through the fluid delivery set.

  • Patent number: 8617137
Abstract: An enteral feeding system reduces medical risk for aspirational pneumonia when an angle of a head gatch section is outside a predetermined range of 30-45 degrees. The system comprises a hospital bed having the head gatch section and an intravenous pole connected to an enteral feeding pump. The pump has a fluid sensor which operates properly when the pump is positioned along a vertical axis. The pole is connected to the head gatch section at a 30 degree angle offset from the vertical axis. In operation, when the head gatch section is positioned less than 30 degrees, the pump will stop operating and when the head gatch section is positioned at 30 degrees, the pump will operate since the pump is positioned along the vertical axis to allow the fluid sensor to detect fluid.

  • Patent number: 8413673
Abstract: A flow actuated valve includes a valve body, a diverter member, an actuator member, and a check disk. The valve body defines a first upper aperture, a second upper aperture, and a lower aperture. A check disk member connects to the actuator member to control the flow of fluid depending upon the direction of the flow of the fluid through the valve. When the check disk member is closed, the diverter member engages the actuator member to allow a first fluid to flow through the first upper aperture or to allow a second fluid to flow through the second upper aperture. In operation, the fluid is selected by changing the directional flow of the fluid to close the check disk member which causes the actuator member to engage the diverter member to either allow the first fluid source or the second fluid source to flow therethrough.
