Abstract: Creation of a digital ISDN server for distribution and interactive services in video telephony, which can be used for a great number of video telephones including video telephones of different designs. Provision of video and audio signals with different formats and different transmission rates for different video telephones. Signalling of a terminal (TN1, . . . , TNp) is provided by the server for each requesting video telephone, where coded video and audio signals of different transmission rates and different formats are provided according to the design of the video telephone. These are available either in real time or are downloaded from corresponding storage media. In addition, an interactive control can be implemented.

Abstract: A process for the production of beer with a low alcohol content is described. The process comprises preparing a wort by boiling and adding ascorbic acid to such wort prior, during, or after boiling, so long as the wort remains hot. The process can be employed according to the invention for the production of non-alcoholic beer by the yeast cold contact process, in which yeast recovered from a fermentation process is brought into contact with the wort at a low temperature below 0.degree. C. As a rule, the non-alcoholic beer produced by this process imparts an unpleasant and bitter aftertaste. By adding ascorbic acid to the boiling wort, the bitter aftertaste is completely eliminated.

Abstract: In facilities having several systems of circulating shelving, because of the multiplicity of parts to be stored the regular use of a data processing system is required. For controlling the systems of circulating shelving by means of the data processing system, suitable control arrangements are used. In such a control arrangement, the signal output (51) of a data station (33) is coupled via an optical coupler (62) to a transmit line (38). The transmit line (38) connects in parallel all similar connections of the data stations of several control arrangements, allowing the interposition of a multiplexer to be dispensed with.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for forming a loop of flexible binding about objects positioned seriatim in an object receiving station. The apparatus includes a chain loop driven around the object receiving station. While a previously bound first object is in the receiving station, the chain is driven in one direction to move carrier rollers on the chain so as to pull the trailing portion of a binding through a major portion of the locus of a closed path around the receiving station while the lead end of the binding is held adjacent the receiving station. Spaced portions of the binding are guided from the interior of the path around the receiving station to maintain the binding in the configuration spaced outwardly of the receiving station. Subsequently, the first bound object is removed from the receiving station and a second object is positioned therein.

Abstract: A gritless seal, a method for making the seal, and a method for forming a joint with the seal between overlapped ligature segments is provided. The inner gripping layer is brittle and has a hardness greater than that of the outer, ductile layer. In forming the joint, the seal is disposed about the overlapped ligature segments and is folded, squeezed, and/or crimped about the segments under pressure sufficient to deform the outer, ductile layer and produce fracture cracks in the inner gripping layer which present sharp edges to engage and hold the surfaces of the overlapping ligature segments. The interior of the sheet steel seal is case hardened by known cyaniding techniques.
