  • Patent number: 6907973
Abstract: A system and method for supplying cooling fluid for frictional elements, for example multiple disc clutches and multiple disc brakes, in automatic transmissions. The cooling fluid flows through the multiple disc clutch or brake in a predefined manner radially inward or outward, whereby a defined flow through the clutch or brake packet is ensured through a defined pressure difference in the cooling fluid between the cooling fluid supply and the discharge of the cooling fluid. A preferred embodiment of device for supplying the cooling fluid is designed as a ring-shaped channel that partially or fully encloses the clutch or the brake.

  • Publication number: 20040222319
Abstract: An apparatus for compensating the viscous characteristics of a hydraulic medium in a pressure line (10) in which apparatus a pressure nozzle (12) with constant geometry and constant through-flow cross-section is located in the pressure line (10). It is provided according to the invention that in the pressure Line (10) upstream or downstream of the pressure nozzle (12) at least one channel-shaped area (11, 28) is made or situated which, compared to the pressure nozzle (12), has a smaller through-flow cross-section and a larger axial extension and that the control pressure (P_SekV) abutting between the channel-shaped area (11, 28) and the pressure nozzle (12) can be supplied via a control pressure line (13) to a shift valve (14).

  • Patent number: 6785598
Abstract: A control system for a transmission comprising a torque converter or a hydrodynamic clutch in a motor vehicle, at least one torque-conducting clutch or brake in the starting operation of the motor vehicle. It is proposed to regulate the starting power of the motor vehicle as function of a driver's wish, via a slip clutch or brake mounted in the transmission, taking into account parameters of the torque converter and/or hydrodynamic clutch.

  • Publication number: 20040162660
Abstract: Within the framework of a method for reducing the thermal stress of starting shift elements in automatic gearboxes or automated manual gearboxes with at least two shift elements in the force flow, on starting, besides a first shift element at least a further shift element is used to take up at least part of the slippage.

  • Publication number: 20040010361
Abstract: A device to allow for emergency operation of an automatic-transmission motor vehicle, having a monitoring device to monitor pre-determined operating parameters, a diagnostic device to detect faults, a control device to activate an alternative function, and an output device by means of which the fault may be presented to the driver. The control device provides the driver an emergency operation capability while providing an alternative function depending on the degree of the fault.

  • Patent number: 6485393
Abstract: A method is proposed for the control and regulation of a drive system of a motor vehicle having one electronic transmission control for an automatic transmission and connected therewith an electronic engine control for a prime mover. In a coasting operation of the drive system, during a change over of a transmission element from an open to a closed or a slipping state during a coupling procedure of the transmission or a regulation procedure of the transmission element, rotatory masses of the engine are regulated and accelerated under control so that a vehicle deceleration is less than a presettable tolerance value.
