  • Publication number: 20130156528
Abstract: Press sheets and methods for processing press sheets to produce book blocks are disclosed wherein double slot perforation lines each comprising one first and second perforation line having slots respectively of the same slot length are produced on a press sheet. The slots of the first and second perforation line are produced in such a manner that two consecutive slots of one perforation line have a distance of one slot length from each other, that the first and second perforation line are arranged so that the first and second perforation line extend parallel and in spaced relation to each other and have a longitudinal offset of one slot length to each other, so that the slots of the first perforation line are arranged respectively staggered to the slots of the second perforation line and that a folding line is formed between the first and second perforation line.

  • Patent number: 8313276
Abstract: For the automatic production of book covers for individual books with different format sizes, the data of the book to be bound are acquired and cataloged using software, the book covers are cut to the desired format, covering materials adapted to the format are applied to the book cover, the corners are folded, the endpapers are applied to the book covers and the text block and book cover are joined together, precisely positioned.

  • Patent number: 7842150
Abstract: In order to produce an adhesive binding for bookbinding, in which the sheets, in letter paper format, are perforated on the folding edge, folded, provided with adhesive on the folding edge and assembled to form a book block, the perforating process is carried out on the folding edge in such a manner that two interrupted perforation lines are punched, these perforation lines being parallel at a short distance from one another, offset in a longitudinal direction and forming a widened folding edge. The punch locations of both perforation lines are, along the folding edge, offset by the length of one perforating tooth. The sheets, which are folded on the folding edge and which are assembled and squeezed to form a book block, are provided with the application of adhesive on surfaces, which are formed by the double perforating and which are assigned to one another, between full locations of one perforation line and full locations of the other perforation line.

  • Patent number: 7407355
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and a device for automatically binding book blocks by machine. In a working cycle, the book blocks are conveyed on a conveyor device in an upright manner through the individual processing stations. In a fanning gluing binding station (2), adhesive is applied from underneath against the fanned book block spine. In a spine-taping station (3) the spine-taping material is directly pulled off a roll and is automatically cut to the predetermined measure by machine. The headband is likewise pulled off a roll, cut to the required dimensions, advanced to the book block by means of a slide and is ironed onto the book spine. Afterwards, the end paper of the book block provided with the headband is opened in order to attach the book cover to the book block, is pulled from the book block by suction, and is clamped in a lower station press. With the end paper opened, the book block is then placed in a covering station (5), and the book block is fixed to the book cover.
