  • Publication number: 20030000551
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for treating surfaces of metallic strip material (1), especially for pickling rolled material, in a treatment channel (2), with a pickling medium (3) containing acid. Jets (4)are set in the direction which the strip is transported (5) at the entrance to the channel (2a) and in the opposite direction that in which the strip is transported at the exit of the channel (2b). The aim of the invention is to produce a closed liquid film with some turbulence on the surface of the strip. Said film should be maintained as far as the exit (2b) of the channel. To this end, additional jets (4) between the channel entrance (2a) and the channel exit (2b) are oriented in the opposite direction to the direction in which the strip is transported (5) and the pickling medium (3) is further delayed in flowing out at the channel exit (2 b) by mechanical resistance devices (7) situated in the path of the transport channel (6).

  • Publication number: 20020113066
Abstract: The present invention provides new polymer induction bonding technology. Induction heating technologies are utilized to weld, forge, bond or set polymer materials. The invention provides controlled-temperature induction heating of polymeric materials by mixing ferromagnetic particles in the polymer to be heated. Temperature control is obtained by selecting ferromagnetic particles with a specific Curie temperature. The ferromagnetic particles will heat up in an induction field, through hysteresis losses, until they reach their Curie temperature. At that point, heat generation through hysteresis loss ceases. This invention is applicable to bonding thermoplastic materials, wherein only the area to be heated has ferromagnetic particles in it; bonding of thermoset composites, which have been processed with a layer of thermoplastic material on one side; curing of thermoset adhesives or composite resins; or consolidating thermoplastic composites.

  • Patent number: 6364911
Abstract: A femur slide has a patella shield and two convex curved condyle cups which are anteriorly rigidly joined by the patella shield. The two condyle cups and the patella shield define internally anterior and posterior matching surfaces which correspond with a femural ventral cut and with a femural dorsal cut. Relative to a reference plane which is defined by posterior slide surfaces of the condyle cups, an anterio-medial matching surface lies nearer to the reference plane than an anterio-lateral matching surface. The anterior matching surfaces are defined by a slanted surface with is continuously slanted in a direction from lateral to medial to posterior, and an angle between the slanted surface and the reference plane lies between three and ten degrees.

  • Patent number: 5022933
Abstract: Boron-containing steel products having boron contents of up to 200 ppm are obtained by an annealing process in the temperature range of between 850.degree. and 1050.degree. C. The characterizing feature of the invention is that the products are annealed in the state of equilibrium in a non-oxidizing gaseous atmosphere with a boron potential supplied by a pulverulent boron oxide source having a value such that the products retain or adsorb their boron content. The boron source is quantitatively about 100 g of B.sub.2 O.sub.3 per m.sup.3 of annealing space. In an annealing gas atmosphere mainly consisting of hydrogen, the steam partial pressure can be adjusted at atmospheric pressure in the presence of B.sub.2 O.sub.3 to the required boron activity within the range of between 10.sup.-3 to 10.sup.-5. The products can also be simultaneously case hardened during annealing. The case hardening agent can be mixed with pulverulent boron oxide as the boron source.

  • Patent number: 4783436
Abstract: The invention relates to a semi-finished product for the production of catalysts, consisting of a metallic carrier and a coating of the carrier on its surface. The coating consists of particles of metallic powder anchored to the material of the carrier and to each other by sintering and contains pores. The invention also provides a method of producing a metallic carrier with a coating for the anchoring of the reactive oxide layer or of the catalytically acting material.

  • Patent number: 4602577
Abstract: A drive and control device for sewing machines, automatic sewing installations, and the like, with a recognition unit which responds for the purpose of end recognition when the sewing tools have approached a predetermined spacing from the desired seam end. The drive and control device also includes a preselection stitch counting unit, which can be triggered by means of the recognition unit, for the presetting of a predetermined number of remaining stitches still to be executed subsequently to the end recognition, and a correction unit for the performance of a stitch correction in dependence on the respective needle position at the instant of end recognition. The correction unit serves for automatically varying the length of at least one of the remaining stitches.

  • Patent number: 4295857
Abstract: The invention contemplates a process for the crystalline precipitation of a chromogen from solution thereof in a solvent and within a capillary. The process involves first initiating a course of crystalline precipitation of the chromogen by initially and locally supersaturating the solution within the capillary, and thereafter evaporating the solvent at a rate and in an environment sufficient for further crystallization to proceed unimpeded by local supersaturation.

  • Patent number: 4153513
Abstract: Enzyme substrates in aqueous liquids are continuously measured by introducing a sample containing the substrate to be determined into a current of buffer solution, reacting the substrate on an immobilized enzyme and measuring, in a measurement chamber, a physical change in the solution brought about by the reaction, wherein a current of buffer solution containing the sample to be determined is passed alternatingly (i) directly through the measurement chamber with the production of a reference signal and (ii) first over the immobilized enzyme and thereafter through the measurement chamber with the production of a measurement signal, and relating the reference signal to the measurement signal to indicate the enzyme substrate initially present.
