Patent number: 10119451Abstract: An internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle drive includes a housing having a cylinder head water jacket, an exhaust water jacket and a combustion chamber water jacket. A valve is operable for adjusting a flow through a multi-channel coolant inlet. In particular, the valve provides continuous adjustment of a cross section, through which a fluid can flow of a multi-channel exhaust coolant outlet for admitting a flow to the exhaust water jacket and cross-section, through which a fluid can flow of a multi-channel combustion chamber coolant outlet for admitting a flow to the combustion chamber water jacket.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2016Date of Patent: November 6, 2018Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventor: Peter Seeger

Patent number: 9169799Abstract: A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine is provided which include a valve spring boss having a central opening for accommodating a valve and having a contact area for retaining said valve. The contact area has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion being ring-shaped and delimited by the opening, and the second portion being radially protruding from the first portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2014Date of Patent: October 27, 2015Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventor: Peter Seeger

Patent number: 8857387Abstract: A cylinder head is provided with liquid cooling system and a method for cooling the cylinder head. The cylinder head includes, but is not limited to a liquid jacket in which a coolant flows along a main flow pathway from a coolant inlet to a coolant outlet. The liquid jacket is interrupted between the coolant inlet and coolant outlet by portals to cylinders of an internal combustion engine. A second portal is arranged in a flow shadow of a first portal. The cylinder head in the liquid jacket exhibits a flow guide wall with a constriction of the flow cross section, and a baffle plate, which is arranged in the direction of the main flow pathway, downstream from the flow guide wall. The baffle plate is designed to divert a coolant flow branch in a direction of flow transverse to the main flow pathway, toward the second portal.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2011Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: Waldemar Schlidt, Peter Seeger, Stefan Vogel, Carsten Tauscher, Markus Klein, Roland Maucher, Jan Zimmermann

Patent number: 4437765Abstract: A vertical axis dispersion turbine is of the type which has a stator consisting of a stator tube with a cylindrical guide ring of larger diameter than the tube defining an annular inlet, an axial rotor shaft freely rotatable in the stator tube and having several blades in the guide ring to draw a medium to be mixed and dispersed downwardly through the annular inlet, and dispersion means through which the medium flows. The dispersion means consists of a dispersion element mounted on the guide ring in a plane transverse to the rotor shaft, either immediately above or below the rotor blades, or two dispersion elements above and below the rotor blades. The dispersion elements are axially adjustable, and may consist optionally of radial arms, or a grid with axial openings or a perforated plate with axial passages. The guide ring is slidably adjustable on the stator tube.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1982Date of Patent: March 20, 1984Assignee: Ystral GmbHInventor: Hans-Peter Seeger
