  • Patent number: 10885339
Abstract: A head-mounted device includes a first image capturing device, a transparent display, and circuitry. The first image capturing device captures an image of a scene in a line-of-sight (LOS) of a wearer of the head-mounted device. The circuitry receives an audio segment that corresponds to audio content. The circuitry determines a level of each image characteristic of a background portion and a foreground portion of the captured image. The circuitry estimates a first region on a display portion of the transparent display for display of text information associated with the received audio segment. The circuitry determines a level of each display characteristic from a set of display characteristics for the text information based on the estimated first region and the determined level of each image characteristic. The circuitry controls the display of the text information in the estimated first region of the display portion of the transparent display.

  • Patent number: 10885893
Abstract: An electronic device includes a display screen and circuitry. The circuitry receives a first frequency modulated (FM) signal from a first FM radio transmitter, via a first FM radio channel. The first FM signal comprises a broadcast data signal that includes an audio segment of aural information of a performer-of-interest at of a live event, text information associated with the audio segment, and synchronization information. The synchronization information is associated with the text information and the audio segment. The circuitry extracts the synchronization information from a plurality of data packets of the broadcast data signal. The circuitry extracts a portion of the text information from the extracted plurality of data packets of the broadcast data signal based on the extracted synchronization information. The circuitry controls display of the extracted portion of the text information on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 10868624
Abstract: An active optical cable (AOC) signals to a source that it needs power above a standard voltage, e.g., above five volts, by sending a signal such as a voltage step from one non-zero voltage to a second non-zero voltage or other voltage pattern on a hot plug detect (HPD) pin of a display data channel (DDC). While a legacy source device may not be able to detect this and consequently will operate as usual, a source device programmed according to present principles detects the request for more power represented by the voltage pattern established by the AOC, and in response increases the power (voltage and/or current) on DDC 5V line to the requested level, e.g., 10V at 500 mA.

  • Publication number: 20200387538
Abstract: An electronic device includes circuitry, firmware, and software that determines identification information associated with a first performer-of-interest at a live event and retrieves a first set of audio tracks from a plurality of audio tracks based on the determined identification information. The circuitry receives a first audio segment associated with the first performer-of-interest from an audio capturing device. The circuitry compares a first audio characteristic of the first audio segment with a second audio characteristic of a first audio portion of each of the first set of audio tracks. The circuitry determines a first audio track based on the comparison between the first audio characteristic and the second audio characteristic. The circuitry identifies a start position of the first audio track based on the first audio segment associated with the first audio track. The circuitry controls a display of the first lyrics information of the first audio track.

  • Publication number: 20200335120
Abstract: A display system includes a display device and a server. The server receives a plurality of audio segments from a plurality of audio-capture devices. The server receives a user-input that corresponds to a selection of a first user interface (UI) element that represents a first performer-of-interest or a first audio-capture device attached to the first performer-of-interest. The server detects a second performer-of-interest associated with a second audio-capture device within a threshold range of the first audio-capture device. The server extracts a first audio segment of a first vocal deliverance of the first performer-of-interest and a second audio segment of a second vocal deliverance of the second performer-of-interest. The server deduces new caption information from a first verbatim text that is common between the first audio segment and the second audio segment and controls display of the new caption information on the display device.

  • Patent number: 10805676
Abstract: The most active part of a video frame is magnified on a display to accommodate people with eye maladies such as macular degeneration. An area of interest in a video frame is identified, and that area is expanded or magnified to the periphery of the display, where people suffering from macular degeneration can best see. Assuming the viewer sits a benchmark distance from the display, the active part of the image is expanded to fit in what can be seen in the periphery of the display without moving the head left to right and up and down. This may be done by the display recognizing where most of the action is taking place by means of with motion vectors and I-macroblocks, or by allowing the viewer to switch to various predetermined blocks on screen using a remote control.

  • Patent number: 10795022
Abstract: Machine learning is applied to both 2D images from an infrared imager imaging laser reflections from an object and to the 3D depth map of the object that is generated using the 2D images and time of flight (TOF) information. In this way, the 3D depth map accuracy can be improved without increasing laser power or using high resolution imagers.

  • Patent number: 10698109
Abstract: Multiple independently movable devices are located upon a platform. On the platform is a directional microphone array. Each of the movable devices is assigned a unique audio signature, which may be a pulse train of chirps or a pseudo random signal or some other audio sequence that is unique to the respective device. Each movable device announces itself with its unique audio signature, and the platform's directional microphone system determines the location from which the unique audio signature comes from. For range, a difference between the time of flight (TOF) of the light relative to the sound signature is used. As another technique a unique audio signature may be an audio water mark concealed in normal audio which may be emitted by the movable device. The watermark provides the identifying information of each movable device.

  • Publication number: 20200195909
Abstract: An image capturing apparatus and a method for depth of filed (DOF) adjustment in images based on time of flight (TOF) depth maps is provided. The image capturing apparatus includes an image sensor and circuitry. The circuitry generates a TOF depth map of a scene that includes a plurality of objects. The TOF depth map includes information associated with distances between the image sensor and surfaces of the plurality of objects. The circuitry divides the TOF depth map into a plurality of regions that corresponds to at least one object of the plurality of objects. The circuitry determines a region of interest from the plurality of regions and adjusts the DOF of the at least one object associated with the determined region of interest. The circuitry further controls the image sensor to capture an image of the scene based on the adjusted DOF.

  • Patent number: 10681522
Abstract: An electronic apparatus for emergency alert setting control based on a location change, is provided. The electronic apparatus stores emergency alert setting and location information associated with a known location of the electronic apparatus. The electronic apparatus detects a change in the known location of the electronic apparatus from the known location to a different location. The electronic apparatus outputs notification information to update the stored emergency alert setting based on the detected change in the known location of the electronic apparatus. The electronic apparatus receives a first user input corresponding to at least one emergency setting parameter of the stored emergency alert setting based on the output notification information.

  • Patent number: 10650702
Abstract: The most active part of a video frame is magnified on a display to accommodate people with eye maladies such as glaucoma or perhaps retinitis pigmentosa. An area of interest in a video frame is identified, and that area is expanded or magnified to the center of the display, where people suffering from loss of peripheral vision can best see. Assuming the viewer sits a benchmark distance from the display, the active part of the image is expanded to fit in what can be seen in the center of the display without moving the head left to right and up and down. This may be done by the display recognizing where most of the action is taking place by means of with motion vectors and I-macroblocks, or by allowing the viewer to switch to various predetermined blocks on screen using a remote control.

  • Patent number: 10536684
Abstract: A camera based depth mapping system. Depth information is coded with colors to make a laser-generated 3D depth map easier to interpret. In the event that the laser illumination is not sufficient, the depth information can have a low signal to noise ratio, i.e., the depth map can be noisy. Color noise reduction techniques are used to alleviate this problem.
