    Abstract: Enhanced corrosion protection of a metal substrate is accomplished in a multi-step process: a first coat comprising an electroactive polymer, such as polyphenylene ether, preferably poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-polyphenylene ether), is applied directly to the metal substrate and subsequently a conventional powder coat formulation, such as those comprising epoxy, poly(vinyl chloride), polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes, acrylics, etc, binders and standard additive materials, is electrostatically applied and cured.
