Abstract: This invention relates to thermoplastic, pressure-sensitive solid adhesives capable of transferring an adhesive film to a substrate by friction rubbing of the adhesive on the substrate. The adhesives of this invention consist essentially of polyisobutylene, wax and optionally an adhesive promoter resin. Said ingredients are within certain proportions, molecular weights, melting points, or hardness values.

Abstract: Method of producing dry polyvinyl acetate particles that are readily dispersible in water, are vinyl acetate monomer free and are useful for making polyvinyl acetate dispersion compositions that are low in odor, form clear dried films and may be used in adhesives, sealants, caulks and coatings. The method includes manufacturing an aqueous, e.g. water, dispersion of polyvinyl acetate containing polyvinyl alcohol; drying to remove volatiles by converting the dispersion to dry form under controlled temperature conditions and redispersing the dried polyvinyl acetate particles in an aqueous medium to form a polyvinyl acetate dispersion that is substantially free of vinyl acetate monomer.

Abstract: Adhesive compositions exhibiting fast cure time in solid form, e.g. in the form of an applicator crayon or glue stick. The adhesive exhibiting polymer of the composition is based on a mixture of critical amounts of high molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer, with a lower molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer, with water, an organic solvent, and a salt of a long-claim fatty acid, e.g. sodium stearate. Color indicators and other optional ingredients, e.g. mildewcide, can be included.

Abstract: An aqueous adhesive composition having pH of about 8 to 10 containing from about 25 to 75% by weight of water, the water having dispersed therein:A. from about 25 to 75% by weight of the composition, of a water-insoluble linear polymer of interpolymerized monoethylenically unsaturated monomers in amounts by weight based on the linear polymer:(1) from about 50 to 99% of an acrylic ester monomer of the formula ##STR1## or a mixture thereof, where R is H or methyl and R.sup.2 is lower alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms,(2) from about 0.1 to 10% of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid,(3) from about 0.1 to about 10% of a nitrogen containing monomer selected from the group consisting essentially of vinyl amines and salts thereof, vinyl ureido monomers, vinyl compounds having heterocyclic nitrogen containing groups, and mixtures thereof, andB. 0.001 to 2% of a silane containing both alkoxy and epoxy functionalities.
