  • Patent number: 7215363
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for the imaging of surfaces of box like objects conveyed along a path. The objects are conveyed past at least one camera which is positioned at an angle to the object's surface. The at least one camera comprises a sensor array and zoom objective, the latter controlled by a control mechanism. The present system further comprises a control unit and at least one sensor. The sensor detects the location and velocity of an object. The data is conveyed to the control unit which further communicates with the control mechanism. The control unit causes the control mechanism to adjust the zoom on the objected so as to stay in constant focus with a passing surface of an object passing through the field of view of the at least one camera. After an object has passed through the field of view, the object is made to return to a home position.

  • Patent number: 4907614
Abstract: In order to permit a flexible carrying handle to be more easily fitted into nd removed from a known securing eyelet in an umbrella handle, a permanently open threading slot running the length of the eyelet is provided. The slot is narrower than the eyelet. The carrying handle can be squeezed along the slot into the eyelet, where the carrying handle regains its normal shape and thus will not unintentionally slip back out of the eyelet.

  • Patent number: 4758715
Abstract: To reduce the engineering and operating costs, particularly to save a radiation source and minimize the space requirement of the illuminating device for the automatic reading of markings that are optically recognizable on a carrier, e.g. alphanumeric symbols on shipments such as letters, postcards, check cards, vouchers and the like, the light flux of a radiation source is utilized better by an additional, simple and inexpensive arrangement consisting of two mirrors. These mirrors are disposed around the radiation source and the radiation source generates two radiation beams which are sent on their way to the carrier to be illuminized first through a condenser system and are then redirected by reflectors in such a manner that the angle of incidence alpha of their beam axes to the carrier surface is essentially the same and that, after focusing the radiation beams, both illuminate the same partial area of the carrier.
