  • Publication number: 20120314418
Abstract: A retractable lamp assembly is provided for illuminating at least a portion of a work surface from a wide range of heights and angles by way of extendable shafts and pivot joints. The lamp may be stowed in a retracted or lowered configuration when not in use, in which a substantial portion of the extendable structure is stowed inside of a housing that is located substantially below the work surface, to provide a generally unobtrusive configuration. An upper cover serves as a light reflector when the lamp is in use, and may serve as a cover positioned at or near the work surface when the lamp is stowed. Optionally, the lamp assembly includes include power and data and wire management capabilities for use at the work surface.

  • Publication number: 20120294004
Abstract: An electrically conductive ball joint and lighting fixtures using the joint are disclosed. The joint has a ball with a first portion connected to a first electrical signal and a second portion connected to a second electrical signal. The first and second portions are electrically isolated from one another by a nonconductive bushing. A socket receives the ball and has a first set of electrical contacts adapted to make contact with the first portion of the ball and a second set of electrical contacts adapted to make contact with the second portion of the ball. The two portions of the ball are unequal, with one portion being larger than the other. The lighting fixtures generally comprise a base and two or more arms connected to the base. The arms are connected to one another electrically and structurally with the electrically conductive ball joints, and may be counterweighted.

  • Patent number: 8070576
Abstract: A gaining machine (10) has a display (14) and a game controller arranged to control images displayed on the display (14). The game controller is arranged to play a game wherein one or more random events are caused to be displayed on the display (14) and, if a predefined winning event results, the machine (10) awards a prize which is credited to a credit meter of the machine (10). The credit meter includes two meter displays, a first meter display (42.1) indicating credit which is available for expenditure in the machine (10) to play at least one game and a second meter display (42.2) indicating credit set aside by at least one of a player and the game controller and which credit is unavailable to the player for wagering on a game but which is only available by termination of a playing session.

  • Patent number: 6675722
Abstract: A foldable table for use as a computer system workstation. The table includes an enclosure having opposing top and bottom panels, opposing front and back flanges and opposing end panels. A first rear leg is pivotally coupled to the top panel adjacent one end panel and a second rear leg is pivotally coupled to an opposite end of the top panel adjacent the other end panel. Both rear legs include a channel defined by opposing side walls. A first top support arm and a first front leg are pivotally coupled to the first rear leg, and a second top support arm and a second front leg are pivotally coupled to the second rear leg proximate the top panel. The first support arm and the first front leg are partially stored within the channel in the first rear leg, and the second support arm and the second front leg are partially stored within the channel in the second rear leg. An electrical outlet strip is rigidly mounted to an inside surface of the bottom panel.

  • Patent number: 6303340
Abstract: A method is described for producing a peptide having a pI above 8 or below 5 wherein the peptide is expressed as a fusion protein in which it is linked to a fusion partner through an acid cleavage site. The peptide is released from the fusion partner by acid cleavage in the absence of chaotrope. The fusion partner and its acid cleavage products, if any, have a net charge sufficiently different from that of the desired peptide to allow isolation of the peptide by ion-exchange chromatography.

  • Patent number: 6254427
Abstract: A grommet adapted to be placed through an aperture in a work surface, such as a desk. A lip, with a diameter larger than the aperture in the work surface, is located at the top of the housing, or body of the grommet, so that the lip rests over the aperture in the desk while the housing of the grommet passes through the aperture, so that the great majority of the grommet lies below the surface of the work surface. The grommet contains a plurality of electrical plugs and/or a plurality of data modular couplers for communication terminals so that power and communications wires may be passed over the lip of the grommet and down into the housing to be connected inside of the grommet. The grommet has a power wire connected near the base of the grommet, for connection to a power source, such as a wall plug. Communication and data wires connect to a communication source, such as a telephone plug.
