    Abstract: Provided in a device for activating a wheel brake of a vehicle, having a tensioning installation which has a spindle drive, are two electric motors, the first electric motor by way of a first gear mechanism acting bi-directionally on the spindle drive. In order for the position of the tensioning installation, once attained, to be fixed in a parking brake, a second electric motor by way of a second gear mechanism, which has a self-locking worm gear mechanism and by way of at least one releasable coupling that acts uni-directionally in the activating direction, is coupled to the spindle drive. The coupling is composed of a cam on an output shaft of the first gear mechanism, and a pin on an output element of the worm gear mechanism. Since the cam cannot be reversed beyond the pin, a latching position of the tensioning installation is defined in this way.

The electromechanical actuator comprises a rotation-translation transmission and an electronically commutated synchronous machine having a stator with at least two phase windings, a rotor comprising at least one permanent magnet and at least one rotor position sensor. A torque-forming current and/or a magnetic field attenuating current are adjusted in a co-ordinate system which is fixed relative to the rotor. Voltages in the co-ordinate system are detected to serve as control variables and are transformed into a voltage phasor, which indicates for each phase winding of the stator, a voltage to be applied, and a set value for the magnetic field attenuating current is limited to a maximum value being determined from a predetermined characteristic map.

A control factor is determined periodically for each phase winding. The time periods during which an upper and lower supply voltage is applied to the phase winding are determined based on the control factor. The electronically commutated synchronous machine is actuated according to space vector modulation. Zero vectors are applied to the phase windings at the beginning and/or end of a period for a switch-off duration. All switches connected to the upper supply voltage or all switches connected to the lower supply voltage are on. The selection of the zero vector is performed in accordance with the phase winding with the greatest, in magnitude, deviation from the average control factor. As disclosed is an actuation circuit and the use thereof.
