  • Patent number: 6315854
Abstract: A process for continuously manufacturing transdermal therapeutic patches having a backing layer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive drug reservoir layer, and a removable protective layer, whereby loss of active substances during fabrication of the patches is minimized, said process being characterized in that, in a tape-like laminate having a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing layer (1) and a removable protective layer (3), single quadrangular pressure-sensitive adhesive drug reservoir sections (2) are inserted one after the other in the longitudinal direction between the layers (2,3); the clearance between said drug reservoir sections remains constant in the longitudinal direction; their width is calculated such that the backing layer (1) and the removable protective layer (3) project beyond both sides of said sections; the pressure-sensitive adhesive backing layer (1) is first cut by punching in such a way that the punching line (1a) surrounds the individual drug reservoir sections (2) at an evident distance fr

  • Patent number: 6080421
Abstract: The invention refers to a transdermal therapeutic system for the delivery of active agents to the human body. The backing layer consists of common pharmaceutical plastic layer laminates which require labeling, e.g. by printing. The problem to solve lies in toxicological, technological and drug law disadvantages of pigment- or varnish-printing.According to the invention, the coding does not consist of an ink- or pigment layer but in an effect on surface properties of the backing layer corresponding to the coding.

  • Patent number: 6059913
Abstract: A process for the continuous production of transdermal therapeutic patches, wherein a laminate of an auxiliary layer (3) siliconized at least on one side, an active substance-containing, pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (4), and a supporting layer (9) is prepared as a strip-shaped web (1) first, and the active substance-containing sections (4') obtained by punching said layers (3) and (4) across the web direction are intermittently transferred onto a second web (2), the punching procedure taking place in the rest phase between the cycles and the transfer procedure onto the second web (2) being carried out preferably at equal distances by means of a transfer device (11, 12), is characterized by the fact that the supporting layer (9) is stripped from the active substance-containing sections (4') during the transfer first, and that then the sections (3') of the auxiliary layer are removed with the aid of a process layer (5) which has been rendered pressure-sensitive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5891290
Abstract: A device for the transfer of sections (10) that are self-adhesive on one side from a moving first web (20) onto a moving second web (21), portions (11) to be discarded remaining undetached on the first web (20), comprising a dispenser edge (1) that is associated to and extends across the direction of the first web (20) and around which the web (20) is led with reversal of its direction to release the sections (10) is characterized by the fact that the dispenser edge (1) has a shape in the region of portions (11) that are not to be detached which is different from that in the region of portions (10) that are to be released.

  • Patent number: 5681413
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the production of transdermal therapeutic systems. A layer containing active substance is initially present as a tape or web in the form of a laminate, with a carrier layer and, possibly, further auxiliary layers and/or protective layers or the like. The active substance is then transferred from this layer, either by itself or in combination with at least one further layer, in sections, to the center of a second, wider web.
