  • Patent number: 6287181
Abstract: A stone polishing head for use on a conventional automatic polishing machine which is simple, but has the weight and strength of a prior art polishing head for which the machine was designed. The polishing head is formed of a solid steel barrel having a central bore for coolant flow. On the bottom surface of the barrel a first plate is fixed, and a drive plate is resiliently fixed adjacent to the plate. A tool carrier plate is releasably fixable to the drive plate for rotation with the barrel. The plates are connected by a plurality of connecting pins to maintain the plates parallel to each other.

  • Patent number: 5092910
Abstract: An abrasive material is formed by uniformly spacing particles of diamond or other hard, abrasive material, on a flexible carrier, embedding the particles in the carrier, and fixing the particles to the carrier with the particles protruding from the carrier to perform the abrasive action. The particles can be distributed by placing them in the openings of a mesh; and, the mesh may be removed or may be a part of the carrier. Since the carrier is flexible, the carrier can be shaped to conform to substrates of complex shapes. A plurality of carriers having different concentrations can be bonded together to form tools having varying concentrations.

  • Patent number: 4641628
Abstract: A cutting element, for use on the cutting member of a variety of cutting machines, particularly for stone cutting machines. The cutting element includes a base member substantially permanently fixable to the cutting member, and a cap member selectively engageable with the base member. The cap member has hooks that mechanically lock the cap member to the base member, so removal of the cap member during cutting is resisted mechanically. The cap member can be moved laterally of the base member for removal; and, a fastener such as a rivet selectively holds the cap member against such lateral motion.
