  • Patent number: 10436988
Abstract: An optical fiber adapter for supporting a non-collimated laser light source transmitting a laser light with a first signal wavelength. The optical fiber adapter includes an infrared signal transmitter for transmitting an infrared signal, and an infrared signal receiver for receiving the infrared signal. The infrared signal includes a second signal wavelength. The optical fiber adapter also includes a movable shutter door intersecting the infrared signal in a shutter closed position. The shutter door includes a material that is adapted to pass the infrared signal therethrough when in the shutter closed position. The shutter door includes a material that is adapted to block the first signal wavelength therethrough when in the shutter closed position. The shutter door is positioned distally from the non-collimated laser light source a distance by which the laser light attenuates to not transmit through the shutter door in the shutter closed position.

  • Publication number: 20150241650
Abstract: A module for a fiber optic patching system includes a housing having a front face presenting a first row of ports and a second row of ports. An opening is formed in the front face between the first and second rows of ports. A shutter assembly slides into, and is retained within, the opening. The shutter assembly includes a first shutter, which resides in front of a first port in the first row of ports, and which is movable between a first position substantially covering the first port and a second position pivoted into the first port. The shutter assembly also includes a second shutter, which resides in front of a second port in the second row of ports, and which is movable between a third position substantially covering the second port and a fourth position pivoted into the second port.

  • Patent number: 7785018
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a fiber optic adapter assembly for mating fiber optic connectors. The fiber optic adapter includes a body, an alignment cap, and a shutter door. The alignment cap and the body together define a space with the shutter door pivotally disposed in the space for inhibiting debris from entering through the opening and into the body. The shutter door is configured to pivot inwardly when contacted by a fiber optic connector being inserted through the at least one opening and into the body. Additionally, the shutter door includes at least one standoff and at least one latch, wherein the latch is configured to engage and assist in retaining a fiber optic connector that is inserted into the fiber optic adapter assembly.
