Abstract: A method and data structure for monitoring the progression of a configuration transaction through a communications network is provided. The method includes creating an audit trail associated with the switch-transaction progression, iteratively updating the audit trail incident to an occurrence of a designated transaction-processing substep without overwriting previously stored data, and processing the audit trail so that it is available for access via a user interface. Historical data tracking the configuration transaction's process is preserved rather than overwritten.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically providing real-time transaction-progression status updates in a telecommunications-networking environment are provided. The transaction requires several substeps to complete. As these substeps are completed, statuses corresponding to the completions are sent to one or more user interface. An embodiment of the method includes receiving a transaction that involves performing multiple subprocesses, generating a set of status indicators as the various subprocesses complete, and dynamically broadcasting the indicators to multiple devices (or a single device).

Abstract: A method and system for identifying switch and trunk-group combinations and updating switches, or other components, required to implement a dial plan is provided. The method includes receiving a source network-element identifier and a destination network-element identifier. A range of NPA-NXX codes are received and all available communications pathways between the first network element and the second network element upon which data bound for the one or more NPA-NXX codes can be routed are automatically identified. Profile information associated with the destination network element is retrieved, and, without user intervention, a routing update command is automatically generated that configures the transmitting network element to route data bound for the NPA-NXX codes across the identified communications pathways.
