    Abstract: The invention is directed to a gas tight lance closing device at a cooling chimney hood for steel converters. An opening is provided in the cooling chimney for a jetting lance, which latter can be raised and lowered. The diameter of the opening is dimensioned in such a way that an annular gap remains between the inner edge of the opening and the outer circumference of the jetting lance.
