  • Patent number: 8777684
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to an avalanche safety system including an inflatable chamber, activation system, inflation system, diagnostic system and a harness. The inflatable chamber is a three-dimensionally, partially enclosed region having an inflated state and a compressed state. The inflated state may form a particular three dimensional shape configured to protect the user from burial and provide flotation during an avalanche. The activation system is configured to receive a user-triggered action to activate the system. The inflation system may include an air intake, battery, fan, and internal airway channel. The inflation system is configured to transmit ambient air into the inflatable chamber. The diagnostic system includes a at least one sensor configured to measure a parameter corresponding to the inflation system and a display configured to visually, audibly, and/or tactilely display the parameter.

  • Publication number: 20140190770
Abstract: There is provided a height rescue apparatus comprising a safety line (1) which is attached at (3) to a flexible elongate element (2) which has a lower tensile strength than the safety line 1 which is wound on a drum (9) which is part of a speed control means. A friction device (5) acts on a portion of the safety line (1) to reduce tension in said portion of the safety line by at least 50% in a full arrest situation. The drum (9) or the speed control means is held in a first position which prevents rotation of the drum and release means can be actuated after the fall arrest to allow the drum to provide a controlled lowering action.

  • Patent number: 8769478
Abstract: A group of headless computer entities is formed via a local area network connection by means of an aggregation service application, operated on a headless computer entity selected as a master entity, which propagates configuration settings for time zone, application settings, security settings and the like across individual slave computer entities within the group. A human operator can change configuration settings globally at group level via a user interface display on a conventional computer having a user console, which interacts with the master headless computer entity via a web administration interface. Addition and subtraction of computer entities from a group are handled by an aggregation service application, and interlocks and error checking is applied throughout the group to ensure that no changes to a slave computer entity are made, unless those changes conform to global configuration settings enforced by the master headless computer entity.

  • Patent number: 8720430
Abstract: A device for latching of horizontal coke oven chambers which is triggered by an auxiliary frame located on the coke oven chamber door is provided. The auxiliary frame is restrictively movable in vertical direction on the coke oven chamber door. During the outward movement, the auxiliary frame hits upwardly against limit stop cams firmly mounted on the oven door and transmitting the vertical traction force onto the coke oven chamber door. During the upward movement, the auxiliary frame actuates levers which are rotationally movable to an axis arranged orthogonally to the coke oven chamber and which are connected to a translatorily freely movable latch. On actuation of this lever, it pulls the latch from the latch take-up bearings mounted on the coke oven chamber door so that the coke oven chamber door is unlatched and opened. In an embodiment of the present invention, the coke oven chamber door can be arrested the open or closed position with a device suitable for this purpose.

  • Patent number: 8721754
Abstract: A spring loaded filter clamping frame includes a rear frame section which defines an interior space to secure a filter element. The rear frame section includes a projection extending toward the interior space and a rear latch mechanism. A front frame section defines an interior space and is slidably engaged with the rear frame section. An aperture in the front frame section interacts with the projection. A front latch mechanism with a latch mechanism biasing member interacts with the rear latch mechanism. A frame biasing member is located between the rear frame section and the front frame section. The frame biasing member applies a force urging the rear frame section and the front frame section apart, resulting in a filter clamping frame. In further examples, the frame biasing member is a coil spring and the latch mechanisms are hooks.

  • Patent number: 8650801
Abstract: A counterweight mechanism that includes a radial arm with a weight and a series of elements interconnected between the door and the arm. The weight provides a closing force when in a first position and provides an opening force when in another position. The weight may be an over center weight and the closing force reduces when the weight moves toward an over center position. The counterweight mechanism may require manual resetting after the weight is in the second position. Door movement may be though an angle that is less than an angle of movement of the radial arm.
