  • Patent number: 7176169
Abstract: A lubricant composition for use in a rotary vane compressor has a base oil component that comprises an alkylbenzene as a major component thereof and a polyol ester as a minor component thereof. In particular, the base oil component comprises at least 55% by weight of alkylbenzene and at most 45% by weight of a polyol ester, more preferably between 55% and 75% by weight of alkylbenzene and between 45% and 25% by weight of polyol ester and, especially, between 60% and 75% by weight of alkyl benzene and between 45% and 25% by weight of polyol ester.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 2003
Date of Patent: February 13, 2007
    Assignee: Imperial Chemical Industries PLC
Inventors: Peter Timothy Gibb, David William Graham
  • Patent number: 6849583
Abstract: A lubricant composition containing an anti-deposition component having an anti-deposition effect which is especially useful for the lubrication of refrigeration compressors and in reducing or removal of unwanted deposits in constricted areas in a refrigeration system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 26, 2001
Date of Patent: February 1, 2005
    Assignee: Imperial Chemical Industries Plc
Inventors: Stuart Corr, Steven James Randles, Peter Timothy Gibb
  • Patent number: 6841522
Abstract: This invention relates to lubricant compositions comprising a polyalkylene glycol and an ester wherein the polyalkylene glycol has the formula (I): RO—(CH2CH(CH3)O)n—CH3 where R is an alkyl group with 1 to 15 carbon atoms and n=1 to 35. The lubricant compositions of the invention do not readily form stable emulsions with water. This feature makes the lubricant compositions of the invention particularly suitable for use with air compressors where it is very difficult to exclude moisture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 27, 2001
Date of Patent: January 11, 2005
    Assignee: Imperial Chemical Industries PLC
Inventors: Mitchell Corner, Peter Timothy Gibb, Steven James Randles, Robert Ian George Thompson
