  • Patent number: 8419791
Abstract: An intraocular lens comprises an optic and one or more haptics, wherein the or each haptic can be compressed in the plane of the lens, and which additionally comprises, around the optic, an annular rim that, in use, is in contact with the posterior capsular sac.

    Assignee: Rayner Intraocular Lenses Limited
    Inventor: Peter Toop
  • Publication number: 20120277857
Abstract: An intraocular lens is described which comprises, as one face thereof, a linear Fresnel prism array with facets angled relative to the optical axis of the lens so as to deviate light incident thereon to an off-axis position. The facets are modified so as to reduce at least one of diffraction effects and astigmatism associated with the Fresnel prism. In particular, by varying the pitch of the prism elements across the array, which may comprise varying their size, a diffraction grating effect can be reduced or negated, such that light is not diffracted into undesirable orders and multiple images can be avoided. Furthermore, chromatic angular dispersion associated with the diffraction grating effect may be reduced. The pitch variation can be random. By varying the angle of the facets across the array, astigmatism that would otherwise result from the presence of the Fresnel prism can also be compensated.

  • Publication number: 20100204704
Abstract: The present invention provides accurate, low cost devices that have application in the field of intraocular lens delivery. Specifically, the present invention provides a device for inserting an intraocular lens into an eye, comprising a body having a lumen which is capable of accommodating an intraocular lens and a rod which is capable of pushing said intraocular lens out of the lumen and into the eye, wherein the rod has an intraocular lens-contacting tip which has a first configuration having a larger radial cross-sectional profile than a second configuration thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050033421
Abstract: An intraocular lens comprising a toric optic and one or more haptics, wherein the thickness of a region of the distal part of the, or each, haptic is greater than the rest of the haptic, such that rotation of the lens is inhibited in use.
