  • Publication number: 20230223956
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for encoding and for decoding a polar code to reduce complexity and improve speed. For encoding, information bits are obtained, an original kernel matrix is adjusted to construct one or more kernel matrices, an appropriate target kernel matrix is selected from the one or more kernel matrices, and polar encoding is performed on the information bits based on the target kernel matrix. For decoding, a to-be-decoded sequence is obtained, and the to-be-decoded sequence is decoded based on a plurality of trellises, where intermediate results obtained in different decoding stages may be reused. For example, in a (t+i)th stage of decoding, an intermediate result obtained in a tth stage of decoding is reused.

  • Publication number: 20070011586
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for error correction of a communication signal. A multiple threshold scheme for iteratively decoding a received codeword includes using a comparison of an updated bit reliability with a threshold to generate a reconstructed version of the received codeword. At each iteration the bit reliability and the reconstructed codeword are updated based on a comparison using a threshold that has been updated for the given iteration. Embodiments include decoding and/or associated encoding methods and apparatus using a threshold having two of more values during the iterative decoding.

  • Publication number: 20060211426
Abstract: Radio communication resources are allocated in a cellular radio communication system having a plurality of user stations and network units by subdividing a frequency band that is sub-divided into a plurality of sub-carriers used for communication purposes. In several radio cells, one or more network units sub-divides(s) the frequency band into a number of sub-bands having one or more respective sub-carriers, sub-divide(s) the user stations into a number of groups and allocate(s) a sub-band for communication purposes to each group. The number of sub-bands differs for at least two radio cells.
