Patent number: 8376916Abstract: A heavy bag for use by martial arts practitioners to practice the martial arts, the heavy bag adapted to receive a sheath about its circumferential periphery, the sheath having a plurality of vertically longitudinal sleeves or pockets for the slidable receipt of semi-rigid tubes, rods, or pellets which would therefore be disposed about the circumference of the heavy bag and when struck by a martial arts practitioner with a select anatomical body part would toughen and desensitize the particular anatomical body part. In the preferred embodiment, the sheathing would be in two parts, a lower sheathing secured about the lower portion of the heavy bag by means of hook and loop fastener means, and an upper sheathing which would depend from the four point linkage used for hanging the heavy bag, the lower portion of the upper sheathing being secured by hook and loop fasteners about the circumference of the heavy bag.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2010Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Inventor: Peter Tsakiris

Patent number: 8342475Abstract: A mounting bracket and dampening assembly for mounting a heavy bag, a first portion of the mounting bracket mounted horizontally in relation to mounting surface, a second portion of the mounting bracket depending downwardly forming a support surface for a securing means for supporting the heavy bag in combination with a dampening means in the form of upper and lower bushings in combination with a rod and spring assembly to lessen the transmission of stress, shock and vibration and to reduce the motion, both lateral and vertical, of the heavy bag.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2009Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Inventor: Peter Tsakiris
-
Publication number: 20110111928Abstract: A heavy bag for boxing, martial arts, or other athletic practice, requiring no outer unitary sheath and having a lower support member, the lower support member having an upwardly extending spindle, there being slidably receivable on the spindle a plurality of independently stuffed modular toroidal drums or cells whose central aperture is complimentary with the diameter of the spindle, each of the stuffed modular toroidal drums or cells having independent support to prevent compression of the stuffed toroidal drums or cells the spaces between adjacent toroidal drums or cells being covered by padded hook and loop fasteners girding the toroidal drums or cells.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2011Publication date: May 12, 2011Inventor: Peter Tsakiris

Patent number: 7886898Abstract: A surfboard wax bar rectangularly geometric in shape having a plurality of transverse creases or beveled break lines allowing a user to selectively separate a portion of the surfboard wax bar as desired, the surfboard wax bar encapsulated in a protective covering, the protective covering having a plurality of preformed embossed tear lines cooperative and aligned with the transverse creases or beveled break lines of said surfboard wax bar to allow the selective separation of a portion of the surfboard wax bar and associated wrapping, yet not disturb the remaining wrapping and the remaining portion of the surfboard wax bar, the surfboard wax bar and wrapping or portions thereof being stored in a container, the outer surface of which is reflective to the sun, and which is insulated from the heat of the ambient weather so as to prevent deterioration of the surfboard wax bar or any remnants thereof, and also protection from debris such as sand.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2009Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Inventor: Peter Tsakiris

Patent number: 7857733Abstract: A device for stretching or flexing the calf muscles and tendons of the lower leg, the device in one embodiment having a base member formed with a 90 degree angle for positioning at the intersection of two walls and a floor, the base member having elevated non-skid planar surfaces emanating from the 90 degree angle to the edge of the base plate allowing a user to stand on the elevated non-skid surfaces with both feet and use one's body weight to stretch the calf muscles by lowering or raising ones heels below or above the plane of the elevated non-skid surface. In another embodiment, the device consists of a base member having a straight wall engaging edge with an upstanding wall, terminating in a flat planar surface and an angled ramp surface communicating between the flat upper surface and the base member, the calf stretcher allowing the user to stand on the base member and place selective right or left foot onto the ramp section for the respective stretching of the calf.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2009Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Inventor: Peter Tsakiris

Publication number: 20100313377Abstract: A perforated packet made of paper or other suitable material in which a scented fragrant material, such as potpourri, is disposed, the packet being placed into a disposable paper vacuum cleaner collection bag prior to its connection to the vacuum cleaner, the sheath and scented fragrant contents providing a scented fragrance to the air during the operation of the vacuum cleaner, the scented fragrance being released to the room or area where the vacuum operation is taking place, the packet also releasing a scent or fragrance masking any odor emanating from collected dirt and debris when not in use. Alternatively, the perforated packet and scented material may be inserted into a container mounted to a wall socket having motor and fan means to circulate ambient air through the packet.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2010Publication date: December 16, 2010Inventor: Peter Tsakiris
